New Fuel Tank Design

I'd possibly be interested in removing the front chin, depending on fit. I would like to stretch my rear axle as much as possible without a fuel cell, and my rear axle will have a back truss.

Do you have any general dimensions to go off of? I already purchased a competitor's stainless steel tank last year, and I have yet to install it. If the dimensions are much better I'll sell what I have and buy yours.

In addition to the dimensions (especially the dimension from the top of the tank to the bottom), I'm curious if you considered making this same tank out of aluminum. With a good skid it should be well-protected, and I'd be interested in the weight savings.

It will have room for the 4 link, this is one of the revisions we had to rework on the front of the tank. If you are looking for more room I may offer a modified version thT would have to be special ordered which would remove the front chin. It will remove the fuel level offset for the sending unit and make the gauge less accurate only in how fast the needle falls but will retain all other aspects. It also will decrease the capacity by .5 gallon approximately. Everything else will still work with it etc. right down to the skid plate. Duffs are working on a new rear housing that integrates the truss into the housing freeing up room for the 4 link. This housing combination is what we are working the revised design around so we don't have to modify the tank for extended 4 link applications but we don't know how much room you will have to extend the wheelbase yet. This is part of some of the delay, I don't want to have to revisit this again after we launch it. So we are spending more time to be as thorough as possible to get it right the first time.

I really like all of the R & D and customer input you are putting into this tank design. Your mount design looks great. I never understood why any tank would be mounted against the body floor. I am ready to buy one of your tanks. I live close enough to pick one up and would love to be one of your first customers. When can I order one? I could bring my Bronco to you if you need another for testing. Mine is a 2” body lift with the new Duff/Lick Creek spare tire mount for factory bumper with trailer hitch option. If I recall correctly, this one I made was roughly 18 gallons. Another vote here for the recessed fill and vent connections. A drain plug is nice to have too..I usually include one.
This tank has a Walbro internal HP pump that sits down in to a square "sump" built on the tank bottom interior.

Retired and on a budget $1000 is not posible. But retired with skills I built a 20 gallon tank that just fit inside the frame and close to the two inch body lift. Also had a top of tank feul pump install. Also made axcess door in bed of Bronce to change fuel pump in future.

Not much money left to fill it up after buying a $1000,00 tank. While it is a nice tank and design I also chose a 200.00 aluminum fuel cell and modified it to my liking And fitment for a grand total of $250.00 and $750.00 for fuel or other trick bronco parts.

Late response but simply going from 17 to 18 is not a meaningful change. 17 / 20 / 23 is probably the right increments.

HI walls, Apologies to original poster, don't want to hi-jack, but if you don't mind, could you give some identifying information on the fuel cell you used in your pictures, manufacturer and or model?

I believe it was speedway brand 20 gallon cell from summit or jegs then just modify to your liking. As long as you can weld aluminum you can make it fit exactly how you want and change it however you please for minimal money.

Thanks for getting back Walls and pardon my late reply, I looked at Summit but didn't find it, I'll look at Jegs next, thank you for sharing your experience. Re-inventing the wheel can be a lot of work and un-necessary when others have walked the path before and have good results to show for the effort.

It looks like the last comment from O.P. was nearly 5 months ago.
There's no mention of this tank on Duff's website.
I can only assume that this product is (unfortunately) dead.

There are several out there at this point. Some with the skid plate and so.e without. Its best to email Lick Creek and they will get you one on order.

Lick Creek Restorations is extremely busy. A lot of great new products are coming out as a result of being silent.

The plan and goal is to have some great new products at Super Celebration East in Townsend, TN the third week of April this year. Some of these new products are also going to be available for cash & carry at the Duff booth.

The new 20 gallon LCR stainless gas tank will be there with an optional black powder coated skid plate. You never know, may even be a few units available to purchase.
