New oil leak - Distributer base?

Ive got a question concerning a potential oil leak. It appears to be coming from the base of the distributor. Ive never seen this before. Heres some details.

73 Block (stock block, intake, and dist didnt have the above leak).
87 Lincoln EFI intakes
87 dizzy - I replaced the o ring seal just incase.

I installed the cork gaskets to the front and rear of the lower intake and helped with a fair amount of permatex (especially at the corners of the gaskets. Ive got the lower intake PCV installed as well as something similar on a valve cover.

Any thoughts? Im thinking the cork gaskets faulted somehow.

I bet it is the cork gaskets. Those things are little buggers.
I'd suggest degreasing best you can around the distributor base, run it and check again.
I used permatex the whole length on the front and back of the block last time and it worked like a champ. Hate to say it, but you might have to pull it again and do away with the cork. Stinks. The dist. o-ring would be way easier. I'd clean and check before that though. Good luck.

Mine leaked like that too. It turned out that I had the wrong o-ring. I went to Ford and got the right one. No more leak. :)

Humm, The o-ring that I had on there was the one that came with the dizzy I got from a NAPA like place. This dizzy/o-ring is a few months old, but I replaced it last week with an o-ring (not from Ford). Are the Ford ones a bit larger so that they seal? I sure dont want to take the intakes off, but then again thats not too hard. It seems to leak at higher rpms and little if any at low rpms. Does that sound about the same?

That sounds just like what mine did. The old one was hard, so I went to the parts store and got one, the guy there said "it will work". It did not. I would try it first. It's a cheap fix. Good luck.
