OK, it's overcast today, so the colors are brighter than in the pics

#1 is Sonic Blue/Satin Silver
#2 is Sonic Blue/Mineral Grey (kind of a brown grey)
#3 is Sonic Blue/Steel Grey Metallic (A Mazda6 color)
#4 is the Legend Lime Metallic (just cause someone mentioned it.)
#5 Sonic Blue
#6 Sonic Blue/Satin Silver (inside w/flash - you can read the pearl effect)

I like the rings colored. It ties in the paint scheme to the wheels.

My neighbor when I was a kid had a blue and gray Bronco. It's what got me hooked on em and has always been my favorite color combination. His was blue from the contour up and blue from the contour down. Gray in the middle. But he didn't have door inserts, Might not look right with the inserts. Something to consider though.

And for my other 2 cents worth, I don't care for the blue beadlocks.

I like either of the last two. I was thinking that this sort of scheme would be sweet where the grey/silver is line-x (including the inside of the tub). I wouldnt go blue in my scheme, maybe a green or something a bit more contrasting, like orange or something else that I havent seen yet....the idea would be to cover all the problem areas in a low texture liner, probably line-X, --rockers, tub, all the way around to the body-line that is so problematic in the rear quarters. I do like the blue/grey scheme you have though...as far as the rims, I could go either way. You could always wait and do those last.

I think I would quickly get nauseated and have a seizure if I painted it that color.

now you went and got all bling on us with that fancy gas cap

i really love the paint following the contour of the door insert. i like the blue lower and grey upper but the other way around would hide dirt better. i shot mine with ford KM royal blue and the dirt really shows on the blue

Don't worry, No matter what I will still continue to stick to a function first principle. If I have to sacrifice bling for function then I will. I haven't decided whether to change the cap yet or not. I like the idea of making it flush mounted though. The chrome cap I used to have there was dented from kissing rocks and trees on the trail and the black one on it now sticks out even further.

I like the motorcycle gas cap idea. I'm just trying to figure out how to make it work with a glass body (most people have welded in a section of the top of the gas tank, correct?)

I think so however there are other ways to do it. I've seen similar billet fuel doors where a cup for the filler could be bolted in behind them which might be the way I end up going. (I want to keep it as flush as possible on the outside)

That's what I was thinking. I might try to create a ditch around the part with the screw heads, then have a ring that mates to those holes on the backside and bolt through the body. If the exposed part is ~1/4" thick, I should be able to sink half of that into the body (I think, although this tub of mine is pretty damn thin.) I may just end up with the ring not sitting flush. Plenty of wrecked crotch rockets around these parts, I suspect.

I have a billet door cap piece that is used on the RX-8, but then I have to rig up some kind of latch and it's not lockable. I'm gonna start looking for a toasted gas tank....Nice thing is that the body was never cut for any gas filler, so I can put it anywhere.

I was just looking over the tech article here a little bit ago about using an Aero fuel door. It looks about right for me because it is smaller. (I want it to fit in the space between the flare and body line where it currently is) I think you could add some bracing back behind in the space between the panels to support the cap and inner cup so a fuel nozzle will not crack it.

It's called Legend Lime Metallic...Looks real good with a dark gray/flat black dual hood stripe. ;D

Scott,

That's what I was thinking, Green with some Dark Grey Metallic stripes, or two tone or something. Kinda Foose looking. (Just real hard to touch up).

Thanks for the real name.

Let me know if you want the color code, I can pull it from the doorpost next time I'm near a Green one. (I must admit it's cool being around thousands of Mustangs all of the time.)

Scott, if it's not too much trouble, that would be great. I was thinking those are pretty cool pics, literally a sea of Mustangs.

P.S.

SaddleUp, I don't mean to hi-jack your thread. ;)

So as not to completely hi-jack this thread, here are the color codes for Saddleup as well....

Legend Lime - P1 (Might be PI, tough to read the label)
Steel Grey Metallic (Mazda) - 26
Satin Silver Metallic (Ford) - TL
Sonic Blue/Lapis Blue (Ford/Mazda) - SN (Ford), 25 (Mazda) Same color

I don't mind. I've pretty much decided what I'm going to do. I'll think on it for a month or so and then get started. I think I'm going to go with the Ford Blue and Silver like we discussed already. I actually like the darker grey a little more but the silver will work better at hiding the ripples and dings in the body as they occur. Here are the latest pics including a shot from the front. (I changed the side shot based on what I saw up front while I was playing with the colors) I.E. The hood looks terrible with the scoop a different color than the rest so I went with solid silver instead. I also tried blue in the center section of the grill and it just didn't look right to me.
