First off, I'm a rookie, big time, which is why I am asking. Would this tranny work in favor of the stock 3-speed I have in 1970?

Thanks in advance and my apologies to those of you for my rookie-ness but I trust/appreciate the advice from this site.

Yes it will. Any Bronco vender has the adaptors needed to put it in. You can look it up from the company that makes the adaptors, Advance Adaptor. Although you will get better pricing if you go through a vender instead of directly through AA.

Something I have not seen anyone do yet, keep the Rubicon 4:1 transfer case. It should work and give you a 4:1 transfer case along with the 5 speed all in one package without having to get an adaptor for the transfer case.

Diego,

Check this out. And do a search for NV3550 on here and you will be surprised by what you find. A lot of information about what you need to modify your drivetrain to make it work and what to do to break it in.

Thanks for the responses, I found one on craigslist for $500 and wanted top ask you guys before I purchased it, but just got an email that it sold. $500 sounded like a really good deal.

Try man-trans on ebay. They have NV3550 going for about $950 the last time I checked. Or I found this rebuilt one for $800-850. That sucks that the craigslist one sold, would of been a nice deal.
