I'm finally back to getting things going with the NV3550 and still have an issue. Yesterday I attempted to start my Bronco and there's a very loud noise when I turn the key to start.
It's been so long, suppose it is the engine running that seems like a strange noise?:p

You do have the block plate in place between the engine and bellhousing?
BOTH dowel pins are in place between the block and bellhousing?
Either/both of those can affect starter to flywheel engagment.

I'm not even sure how to discern what it is. I have a brand new starter; maybe it's not engaging the flywheel fully? Maybe the clutch? This is so frustrating! I'll record the noise and post it here later. Maybe someone can tell what it is by the sound.

@roundhouse I see in your signature you have an NV3550. Did you run into anything like this when you did yours?
I do have a a 3550

I didn’t have any issues with it

I had to get a different flywheel etc because I have a efi 5.0

Attaching a clip of the sound heard upon startup. Clutch pedal is pushed as far as it'll go (to the floor) and I still can't get the transmission into any gear. Wonder if I'm not getting enough movement with the clutch fork and throw out bearing?
