Not to mention the first Stadium Super Truck races too, if I remember correctly.
Not sure if that's what they were actually called at the time, or if it was something else along those lines, but I went to the second and third ones I think, down at the LA Memorial Coliseum. Sometime around '79-ish I think? Seeing the big trucks and buggies jumping out that top level was something the first time.
Huge pile-o-fun that was!

And the celebrity races were a who's who of now-iconic seventies stars. Seem to remember maybe the second or third year Ted Nugent was hashing it out with Eric Estrada, Richard Hatch (battlestar galactica) and maybe even Catherine Bach (and maybe Tom Wopat too?).
Some cheesy stuff occasionally, but I tell ya most of them were no slouches behind the wheel!

I may have been wrong Paul? It was Godwin,the man who had Mickey n his wife killed that started supercross.

Mickey had all that stadiumcross goin on though .
