I painted my mat with sem light parchment paint. I’m going for patina look. Do I need to scuff it to show more black
Sounds way to aggressive. Maybe a red or gray scuff pad used by hand.I agree it did come out nice I wonder if you took a wire wheel on a die grinder and start with a small spot and lightly go over it and see what happens.
yes, that's what I was thinking. maybe block sanding pad.Sounds way to aggressive. Maybe a red or gray scuff pad used by hand.
I decided to go ahead and install it.
I did try that that sem paint dries to fast and it was messy. I’m gonna see if I can block sand it with the floor board as a hard surface behind it. It was hard to sand on the pallet on the standI was thinking it might be best to do it right after spraying while it’s still not quite cured. Could be messy, but it seems like if it works it would be great.
Then again, yours looks fantastic in that picture already!
same hereThose old red RCA brand 8-track tape sleeves were a big part of my life back in the 70s and 80s.
Brings back some great memories.

Even though I think an original mat has a little more of the black peaks and highlights showing, I think yours looks really really good.

Finally, someone had the guts to do this. Looks awesome. If you want to experiment, I'd try a scotch brite pad first or maybe a sanding sponge (or whatever they are called).
