Okay a few months ago before the unevent I ordered and specified a winters shifter part #357-1 I.E. standard pattern c4 non lock out shifter from one of our bronco vendors.
1st issue item was received incomplete with only the shifter and cable and ZERO hardware . The Vendor did get me the Hardware kit after some prodding but a week or so after the shifter.
I thought awesome okay now to complete the install and off to the unevent.
Installed and fought and fought with the shifter to get all the gears from 1st thru park and couldn't(I could adjust for 1st and then no park and vice versa and the gates would not all line up either). So off to the unevent and dealt as is with the shifter afterall I only really needed 2nd,3rd and reverse which I could get but with only one gear truly correct with the gate (3rd) and 2nd and N and reverse out of sinc with the gates
After getting back from the unevent contacted Winters directly to solve the issue and spent hours with tech who kept arguing everything is correct about the shifter and hardware etc. ?:?
I finally pointed out well something is not right with the ratio since the shifter and cable are full stroking yet the trans is not and I can't make shifts from one gate to the next without having to readjust the cable . My first assumption was a incorrectly manufactured c4 shift lever they sent! NO it's correct.
2nd after talking to a second tech at winters he finally had me disassemble the complete shifter to get to the part number for the gate plate that is dumbly stamped into the bottom along a edge that gets covered when the shifter is assembled . And viola part number 3286(which is for a AOD) should of had a 3014 gate per the 357-1 I originally ordered.
So winters takes my Address and says they will cover the vendor and send the correct gate to me at no cost. AWESOME RIGHT ON !!:D
Wrong
I wait a full week and a half and no gate arrives and call winters, there not sure what happened to the gate but know it shipped out over a week ago and say they will call me back in a few minutes. well no return call that whole day%) so I call them the next day and ask whats up . they reply shipping made a error and sent it to the vendor that sold me the shifter:eek:
So I call the vendor and so does Winters to explain whats going on and that they should have my gate Days ago.
Reply from vendor is okay well look for it and call you back.%)
two days go by and no word from the vendor SO I finally call them asking whats going on did you find my gate?? reply I get is well we know we got it but don't know what we did with it , and I'm told they will look into it and call me back asap.2 more days go by so I call and tell them look I'm getting frustrated and been dealing with this imcomplete and incorrectly gated shifter they sent me for two months and would like to be driving my ride. there reply is okay will call you back asap and they will try to get winters to direct ship a correct gate since they cant find and don't know what happened to the one winters mis shipped to them.
3 more days go by with no word from the Vendor:mad:
So I GAVE UP and just Ordered the Damn correct gate from another Vendor
( not bronco related ) on my dime Yesterday and got it today:) and still no
word or contact from the Original Vendor.
MY assumption is this 1st when I order the 357-1 and was told they had it in stock ready to ship they the Vendor found out they in fact did not have a 357-1 and instead of calling me back to notify me just sent me a incomplete
package of a shifter and cable pulled from a AOD shifter setup. 2nd they had to pull the hardware from another box a week later since I received none and winters confirmed they sent a replacement c4 hardware kit to the Vendor for reasons not disclosed to winters. and 3rd this vendor has there finger up their A** in there shipping and receiving as well as there customer service and ability to return calls they promise to a customer.

There I Vented !!!! ;D AND not really needed to say but I'll say it ! I WILL NEVER DO BUSINESS WITH THIS VENDOR AGIAN and I will discourage others from them when I can .

Not sure if I caught the hint as to which vendor it was.
Usually ya'll give a hint like the state or something.
Is it the one closest to you?
I do alot of business with WH and they are on the opposite side of the country. I just like them. I also like the way Paul (dirt donk) helps us here at CB.

Yeah I appreciate Pauls time on the forum as well and have had nothing but wonderful service from WH. I had called WH first but unfortunately they only had the shifter in stock with a reverse rock crawler gate pattern, which would of worked closer than a AOD gate.
closest to me ? NO this vendor may in fact be the farthest from me.

If someone really wants to know the vendor they can PM me. I'm not going to thro names or big hints ATM but it was not WH or duffs, the hut or bc

Ask for a return label from vendor and challenge charge on credit card..

I would but atleast I finally got a complete correctly working shifter after all the head ache and would rather just leave it in now and use it and not deal with a 2nd installation . And since I used my banks debit Card I'm not sure if it has the same POWER as say a regular card like discover etc ,

Well damn. Was planning on ordering the winters shifter sometime over the next couple weeks. I DO NOT want to go through your same deal. Can you PM me who you would suggest I don't deal with;D

As far as vendors and issues, I've been real fortunate thus far with just about all of them. It is real hard to beat WH shipping times to my location though. Usually if I call them before noon I have the package on my doorstep within 2 days standard shipping.

I guess if you objective was to vent or rant job well done. If this is an informational post to help other Bronco Owners and/or discourage them from using that vendor then it's a fail. I don't get why people are so afraid to out vendors for issues like these. Who's feelings are you afraid to hurt?

BTW....

I only know of one (not previously named) vendor that sells those shifters and that would be JBG.

Ding ding ding. I think we have a winner! I had an issue with them as well. Duffs has best customer service so far. They are a little pricey compared to JBG but service is excellent and the biggest plus is that everything I have gotten from them HAD INSRUCTIONS..... Not gonna lie, I still order cosmetic stuff from JBG but all my major components come from Duffs. Just got my booster kit from them and it is top notch!

Yup.
Was told approxinnately 4 weeks to deliver a prefab roll bar.
It was about 12+ weeks. Made quite a few calls and emails but I never raised much hell with them because I wasn't ready to put it in yet anyway.
It ended up arriving right about when I was ready to put it in. So I didn't bitch too much about it here but it still ain't right....
Their communication with me was "ok"....but every time I called they would bash their supplier Proto Fab. I understand though.....I have a lot of young people that work for me that I am often having to remind how to endear themselves to the customer with out bashing our suppliers.
I luckily was very familiar with Proto Fabs quality so their bashing didn't effect me but some folks could have been really concerned about the quality of this very expensive roll bar.

I've always had pretty good dealings with JBG, and WH, and BCB with the bulk of my orders being from JBG.

Please don't flame me over saying that! :D

Interactive Systems and Technologies however, got the wrath of my credit card company turned on them for sending me an incomplete Mass-Air conversion kit with a bad computer for my F150.
Dude wouldn't answer the phone for several weeks of me calling and leaving messages.
All I wanted to know is when would I get the rest of my kit, and can he exchange the first computer for one that worked.

He sure did want to talk when I had the charges reversed!

Too late by then; I had already bought better stuff from Dunne-Rite performance, and the dude there was wonderful to work with.

What makes you think that?

Because he told me who it was. I was about to order the same shifter, sent him a PM, and he let me know.

It was not JBG. That being said, people have issues with vendors from time to time and people might have legit gripes about all of them. All I'm saying in this specific case is the vendor he is talking about has not been mentioned in this thread yet.

If it were my thread, I'd lay it out there. But I'm going to respect his decision to not include it up front.

I've had nothing but good experiences with Jeff's myself.
The best inventory and prices in my opinion.

You guys need to not speculate when you don't know who the vendor is. Two members have posted that they won't use JBG because of your incorrect assumptions. JBG wasn't the vendor involved.

No, not JBG. You ever try the phone? I'd bet every vendor's email account probably gets over 100 emails/day. I've called JBG several times and they respond every time. And don't hang up until the guy on the phone can verify it's been fixed.
