did y'all mount yours jam up to the bed, leave a small gap, or put some kind of mat/buffer between the tank and the bed?

I decided to go a Aero EFI tank. I could not be happier with quality of it. I have not installed yet. I should be starting my Explorer swap by the end of the month. The only issue I found with it so far is I asked them to set it up for an Explorer pump and two of the hole were a little off . No biggie. It survived the trip to Va. with out a dent or scratch, it packed ready good. It was clean inside and ready to go. They have great customer service. I plan on leaving a little space between the tank and the truck.

Deciding factor is when you screw in the rollover valve/vent valve in the top of the tank... if you got that. I seem to recall some chose not to have it.
allowing the space it needs. + a little clearance for the body.

There should be 1/2-3/4" of room for body flex, if there is no body lift.

You can also use the frame mounted DMC rollover valve on the vent. The return on the efi tank goes down to bottom so shouldn't flow when upside down.

I did shim my tank down 1/2" as the efi style line connection were not recessed and hit floor.

Last I did the reduced 18 gal size If I did it again I would just do the full 23 gallon.

dont know the answer, but it looks like its double plated, maybe 12 gauge tank with 12 gauge plate welded to the tank in the area where the brackets go.

Finally installed my tank from the mass buy.

Tank I got was reduced capacity to mount higher, with built in skid plate and EFI option.

Bronco has a 2" body lift.

what I did not like:

no vent tube for the charcoal canister and return from the expansion, 2 additional 1/4" ports would have been nice, easier to block them off than adding them, for the vent I used Four Seasons 84520 Tee Heater Fitting its 5/8 x5/8 x 1\4" Tee

I ordered the EFI option but they just stuck the unit to the top of the tank, not recessed like the sending unit, this ate up almost 2" I could have raised my tank up higher.
It is also positioned directly under the nut for the seatbelt bolts.

the EFI assembly, I went with an intank pump its a tight fit, I hope it works, they sock on the pump will never fall off probal 1/4" tightening down the screws pushed down on it.

the step in the back, serves no purpose that I can see, maybe my bumper and install height make mine just doing nothing, maybe 1/2" was needed.

Fuel hose supplied was not for submersible use, 2 pieces I did not use.

Filler & vent tube are angled causing a low spot in my filler hose.

Weld on mounting tabs

Built in skid plate

I mounted mine different than the instruction.

front I used 1/2" threaded rod in the existing Bronco cross member holes.

rear I used the existing gas tank mounting holes and made a bracket , then installed the tank brackets on an angle.

I didn't get one with the East Coat mass buy . The specs I gave them was a Explore EFI in tank pump. And the truck has a 3 in body lift . I agree the side vents would be better. Mine had a vent center which only used up 1in space. But there is a recessed area for the sender and pump. They allowed for plenty of room . I also had the step in the back of the tank fit perfectly with the drop in the back of truck where the tail light wires run across. I had them weld my tabs on, I spaced it down another 1/2 in.

Mine has a low spot in the filler as well. I ordered mine with the tabs loose, and welded them jam up to the floor, then spaced it down 1/2". Had to order the JBG 77 filler hose. I think I may be able rotate things around a little bit of the droop out. I never had a problem filling my tank, but now it will back up and kick off the pump.

wonder if my selecting the reduced capacity tank made the efi pump assembly mount on top vs a recess, that a half ass way to do it as I would not gain any clearance due to needing to space it, figure they had an EFI pump assembly cut down to fit, better would be an adjustable assembly for 1 size fits all.

I ordered the reduced capacity EFI tank in the mass buy. I decided to recess the pump area and add a vent.

Good comments and pics. I had many of the same comments when I mounted mine up last year. I had the brackets prewelded but ended up spacing it down due to EFI sump not being recessed and hitting floor. A few of us used that front crossmember holes and worked with prewelded brackets. I solved the vent issue in the same way with 3 way T but agree why not put the extra 5/16 or 3/8 tube in. Also would have liked to see 3/8" supply and return on EFI setup.

On the fill issues I bet guys with body lifts that spaced the tank down have less of and issue. If that hose is a low spot holding fuel it will kick off pump.

I also noticed an issue with sender being faulty as i tested it before install andthey sent a new one. Would be great if someone try's out on of the vertical float less senders. Last half of tank does go fast.

I hope this helps anyone Using Aero in the future or setting up another mass buy. I will say they are flexible in design if you talk with then and it is a well made tank when you look inside. The skid plate seems pretty durable for light trail use. 2 main issue for me:

-lack of vent
-efi pump cover not recessed

Also dirt donk had commented on reduced capacity not being a great idea. I like how it doesn't hang down but really if I did it again I would agree with paul and do the full 23 gallons. Cause the Aero doesn't have the adjustable brackets on side it doesn't hang as low with same volume.
