Maybe it's the angle but it looks like the tire covers the turn signal. Is there a turn signal function in that added light? Nice carrier though!

The tire is clear of the passenger tail light. Any tire bigger than a 35", will begin to cover the light. Just break light function at the 3rd light.

Here is a little update of what I have been working on over the last two weeks. I had to remove the switches that I had installed. To accommodate a repair to the dash. Then re-install other dash features that needed to be installed ahead of the switches. So here are a few pictures of the dash's current state. I also picked up the "Customized" Tom's Off Road seats from the upholstery shop. I had them insert a different fabric into the insert area of the seats. What do you think about the seats?

Today, working on the dash. I install the guage cluster and a check engine light.

I wasn't originally going to go with a new cluster. But, early last year. I sent my original cluster to Kevin at Classygauges.com, for a refresh and volt meter conversion. When speaking to Kevin after his inspection of my cluster. He was very impressed by how clean and corrosion free my cluster was. One of the best he had seen. However the cluster appeared to have been tampered with at some point. Because some of the rivets/fasteners in the assembly were not factory. Because of this, the speedo gearing was working in a bind. Thus the gears were showing signs of excessive wear. Further testing showed, speed to mileage calculation errors. With this information and the rising cost of the refresh. I decided to go with a new cluster. Selecting the Classic Instruments cluster. I like it because, in my opinion. It looks closer to original than some of the other options. And the price was a little easier to take. Especially when I was able to see one in person at their booth. Here in town during an event. They also offered an event discount.

Not real noticeable. The check engine light is located a little above and to the right of thr cluster. I mounted it in one of the old dash pad mounting holes. By opening the hole to 8mm to except the lamp. Heres a few pictures of the back side of the cluster and check engine light.

I'm still working on the dash wiring but I decided to change it up a little today. So I mounted the charcoal cannister in its new location on the drivers side. I fabricated the bracket a few months ago, so high time I put it to use.

And to keep moving forward with wiring. I hooked up the brake warning light wire to the brake proportioning block.

A little more progress with the dash wiring was accomplished late week. It is almost done, thank to Dave's (Bruners4) great help. While he was working on the dash. I found a home for the ARB locker compressor. I mounted it on an aluminum plate using rubber isolators that have 1/4-20 studs on both ends. Then the plate was bolted to the driver side inter fender. I also test fitted the ARB wire harness. Then pulled it to the bench for re-looming.

Then I reinstalled the charcoal cannister and started fitting the intake hose and fuel tank vent hose. Still more to do here once the upper intake is installed.

More work on the dash wiring. Every wire hooked up with the exception of one more relay. Bruners4 will be over this week to help with that. He is my electrical guy. Dave has been a big help in this department. Here are a few pictures of the back of the dash. If all goes well this week. I will be posting pictures of the front side.

Today, I built a cradle for my hard top. Because I have a full roll cage. Access to install the insulation and headliner materials is just about impossible. So the top will have to come off. The top will be bolted inside the cradle. Then the cradle and top can be flipped upside-down. To allow access to the interior. And due to space constraints. I will work on it, atop my car trailer.

As I had hoped. We (Bruners4) and I finished the wiring and mounted the dash on Thursday afternoon. I spent Friday and a few hours today. Tidying up loose ends and installing the roll cage front leg plates. I sure hope everything works. Testing may begin later this week.

Last week, Bruners4 and I tested our wiring job. Other than having a weak battery for testing. We only found two miner tail light issues. One brake light not illuminating. Which was traced back to a connection in a plug at the steer columns, Painless plug. The other issue was that the reverse lights were on all the time. That was traced back to having an extra power lead connected to the circuit. Once eliminated, the reverse lights, functioned properly. The next day I purchased a new battery and the rest of the systems came alive. The Vintage Air blower and blending units. And the windshield wiper motor. There was just not enough volts to run them on the initial test. Sorry no pictures from the testing days.

Today, I installed the Wild Horse's, steering column shaft. And the power steering / hydro boost, pressure and return hoses. I also re-installed the charcoal cannister for the last time, I hope.

We are getting very close to first start. Maybe in the next week or two. I have all the fluids purchased and on the way. The short list of things in the engine bay to do. Are bolt in the upper intake manifold and air intake. Every with the induction system is ready to go with the exception of connecting the throttle cable. Next is brake lines from the master cylinder to the proportioning valve. And install the shifter linkage to the 4r70w.
It is starting to get exciting around here. Wish us luck.
