Well- what now?

Probably won’t rub any worse than mine lol. My front rubs the shock and shock mount. My rear rubs the chassis brace and shock mount. The front is pretty light, the rear rubs hard every time it articulates up from ride height very far.

Any reason that you wouldn't need to add an additional bracket and a cross brace to add a double shear to your ram mount?
None at all. No reason to double shear the tie rod and drag link either but many do.

My wheels do the same thing. My problem is the back spacing on my wheels. There are always options and solutions but I have to think now... UGH

I tried adjusting the axles back a little, but it’s not enough to really solve it. So, I ordered some wheel spacers that should get me enough to clear. Lord knows what new clearance issue those will cause me.

Alright- axle in the same location, steering / ram clearances all solved.

Plenty of room now. Found another inch of up travel. I’m just choosing to ignore the steering box issue and instead focusing on the glorious fender trimming I did.

Including some font side inner fender redux. Not quite sure what I’m going to do with the battery on the other side…

I would go behind a seat, longitudinally next to the engine, requiring a larger cut or cut into the passenger cowl. As tight and low as mine is the battery still fits between the spring and engine. Injuat added a heat shield.

Move the battery to the rear. A tube front clip may solve all of your problems

A few ideas:

https://classicbroncos.com/forums/threads/tubular-core-support-and-front-end.238319/

This would be awesome, but if I go down this road now (which would be the smartest) I won’t have this project done this year. I haven’t driven it since January of 2021. This project teeters on crazy obsession level and financial ruin.
I’m afraid if I take it too far over the edge, I’ll piss my family off and end up having to sell it.

Been trimming like crazy.
I had to trim into my fire wall to clear full lock driver, still working on trimming for full lock passenger. This leads me to believe I can’t move my axle back any more. So I’ve been checking full stuff driver side and full droop passenger side (worst case scenario), but am I going to far? Is that how everyone else is doing it? I clear fine with the axle full stuff both sides.

I also wonder if maybe I’m setting my bump stops too high?

It gets really tight. Yes you want them to clear at full stuff and droop, articulated. Not doing that is detrimental to tires and sheet metal. If it is a tube or flat sheet and you don’t mind it rubbing in those situations, it’s fine. I have more rubs than I would like, especially in the rear but it doesn’t hinder anything other than my pride for not engineering in enough space lol. I have this on both sides, it clears fine at full bump, hits during articulation. Have some on the front too. Yes the spring is bent… has been for 10 years lol

Ha! Yup that’s bent. Funny how they get all wonky like that sometimes.
Is that your Trac bar way up front just poking out under the frame?

The spacers just moved the problem. I no longer hit the steering box, but the scrub steer radius goes right through the brush bar and right into the grille.

So back to where I was and back to trimming. But lots of hot rust and dust later, I have the #clarence now!! So I bump into the pitman arm a tiny bit. Big whoop.

Now I need to repeat on the passenger side then figure out coil mounts.

Coilover and tower set in place, it all works, I found the clearances!
I need to massage the lower mount a smidge.
Steering works and 4x4x2 box mounted.
Upper floor firewall transition? I don’t needs them.

Looks good now that with or without the spacers? Time to tear it back apart and start final welding.

That’s a wrap on the front suspension and steering. Inner fenders trimmed and bump stops mounted. Just need to clean up the wiring, mount the battery somewhere and put some limit straps on.
