...And other clues that it's an early one?

One thing I see is the rear diff housing has the fill/check plug there on the back. Not many after that had it I don't think.
Does your 3rd member/chunk/center section have a fill/check plug too, or not? Don't see too many of those.

The early production Bronco bodies were produced by the Budd Co. They have a few different characteristics about them.

Shorter inner fender kick panels. They do not attach to the lower front fenders

Was wondering about that bolt in the driver's side body mount. It's through the frame mount, but inboard of the normal hole where the cushion goes.
Figured at first that it was just something a PO had done when replacing parts, but could it have been a result of the different builder? Hard to imagine something that far out of whack from the factory, but now I'm curious.

I didn't notice the bolt before, but now I'm curious too. That is strange.

Hey Ss, put some bracing on the door openings, it makes me nervous to see it being moved with out some bracing. They have been known to fold up!!;D;D;D

Yeah. It's making me real nervous also..... It looks like it is already thinking about it! (Folding up.)

I think the bolt was just dropped there during the sandblasting/painting process. It will be moved and all the rest double checked. I didn't brace it because it wasn't going to be moved that much until it was together. And hopefully it will be together soon enough. Haha

Well got the rig out into daylight yesterday. Just getting it outside lit a fire in me to get working on it. Got the top out of the weather from behind the barn and put it on the truck...... Finally! I've already got new inner fenders and kick panels and it looks like I will have to patch 1 spot under the passenger seat. Other than that, it's not too bad. Seeing everything was a bit overwhelming but it was about what I remembered.

New brake lines from Toms that I bought years ago.

Proof oh how long it's been since I've bought anything for it. Tom's Bronco Parts catalog from 2007.

Wish I had some garage art like you do! Been looking for an ESSO sign for a long time.

Found a picture from back in '93. I believe it's from right after grandpa got it. My other grandfather passed away yesterday and it has gotten me even more motivated to get this one put back together so grandpa can see it. I got all the brake lines ran and the brakes work again. Almost ready to set the motor in and put the lift on.

Great shot! And great motivation too. Heck, that was "only" twenty years ago...
Get it together for sure, and take him wheeling in it to make some more memories and have pics to put up next this one.

Good luck.

Just reading this thread for the first time. Whereabouts in Kansas was your grandfather and the bronco?

Haven't done much lately unfortunately. Been planning and gathering. We did however put up a carport and closed it in for the Bronco. Got it out of the dark hole of a side garage it was in and brought it closer to the house. First child is due in February so my goal is to have it running before she makes her arrival.

Looks good man. I like your new workspace for it.
I'm in the process of building a garage (decent place to work on stuff) currently.
