Radiator overflow tank

Adding a radiator overflow tank to my 71 Bronco. How far does the hose go into the tank? I am thinking it should go to the bottom.

I cut the end of my hose at an angle and pushed it all the way to the bottom.

I also had the same question and looking for an answer I ran across this style "overflow tank". Are these overflow tanks for offroad use or just for sports cars?

If these types of overflow tanks are for offroad use, is there one better than another. Prices seem to be extreme from each other.
