Have a pinion dust shield that has slid off the yoke at the rear axle and is making noise. Is there a way to get it back on without taking it apart or what is the best way to fix this? Trying to avoid setting pinion pre-load if possible.

Not sure if you have to reset anything by removing the yolk, but it should be relatively simple to reattach.
Normally it’s just a mild press fit but obviously that has failed, so a couple of tack welds if you have that ability, or no somebody who does. Or if you’re not going to drive it for a full day or so, you can simply use some silicone or other products such as an epoxy to glue it back in place.
Just thinking that you might not want to drive it for 24 hours or so if using silicone as your glue.

That's the thing it doesn't seem to want to press back on. Wants to go on crooked. Maybe I can shim it more evenly on both sides to get it on straight then re-secure it
