I recently rebuilt my front drums on my 1966 and now I can't remember how the axle goes back on... I have some parts that only go one one side, some that don't fit, and some that just won't go one. Can anyone find or make a guide to reinstalling these?

Which lockout mechanisms do you have? Stock original '66 models? Later model Dana/Spicer style? Warn or other aftermarket?

Hi, you should get a Chilton's manual. Here is a picture from mine.
Also I hope you know there is an inner locknut with a pin for the keyed washer to register in.
There is also a tightening procedure so you don't lock up the hub or lose a wheel..
Hope that helps.
If not, ask for more help.
Good luck

Not always very clear, the inner spring retainer plate is a cupped washer, the cup goes inboard, flat side towards the spring. In effect, it creates a standoff from the outer wheel bearing. If put in backwards will tear everything up as the washer will run on the outer wheel bearing.
