I use one of the large rubber strap plumbers wrenches around damper, then just barely loosen the 4 bolts then let belt go and remove all. Is that the one you have?
What I came with when pulling Explorer serps in the junk yard was to find one of the balance holes in the o.d. of the harmonic. i stick a large allen key in the hole and then rotate until the key contacts the waterpump. Locks the engine right up...
