All,

I have everything out of my EB and rolled it out into the sun to work on it when all of a sudden the righ rear locked up. My Emegency brake cable isn't attached to that side. I have all the drive shafts removed.

I removed the tire and can't even take the drum off. What do you think the problem is?

I also jacked up the left side and it rolls freely.

Help,

VET

Not sure what the problem is, but once the drum is off you'll figure it out.
Did you try backing the adjuster off? Might try opening up the brake bleeder too, while you're beating on the drum trying to get it off.

The adjuster is the little wheel on the backside of the drum

that's not the exact one, but you can tell what it looks like. you can use a slotted screwdriver or your toughest fingernail to adjust the drum- one way loosens the drum, the other backs it up

Adjuster? I'm an Army Vet not a mechanic.. You'll have to break that one down for me. :)

The adjuster is at the bottom. There's an oval hole in the backing plate behind it. It's supposed to have a rubber plug in the hole but sometimes they're missing. What you need to do is use something to turn the adjuster wheel down several complete turns from the back side. There are special tools for it but a screwdriver works.

It needs to be used in the teeth to turn the wheel. Sometimes the adjuster lever on the other side of the adjuster wheel prevents it from moving. Use something long and thin to push the lever away from the wheel then try turning the wheel with the screwdriver tip. It needs to turn down to loosen the brakes.
