My lovely wife told me to order the rest of the parts to get the new 408 into the Bronco.
I'm looking for input on parts from those who actually have been running their 408 and accessories long enough to have an opinion.

My 408 is about 425 HP & TQ, going into a D20 & NP435, 31 spline axles.
FAST E.F.I.

What motor mounts are you using?

What clutch / pressure plate / flywheel are you running?

What stainless long tube headers are you using?

What radiator / water pump / fan are you using?

Oil Pan part #?

Reliability, and proper cooling are imperative for my Bronco. Not a crawler, but a hunting rig and a machine to bomb around in the high Sierra.

Any additional tips? I have read some Bronco 408 swap articles.
Thanks-

I have the WH extreme motor mounts. I've been told they will set your engine higher than others. This causes a problem with my Milodon oil pan because my front oil drain plug faces front toward the cross member and can't come out to drain the oil.

I run a centerforce clutch, and have never had chatter.

I have shorty ceramic coated JBA headers that still look great after 12 years. I don't have long tube because I don't like seeing the exhaust hanging below the body.

I have a Ron Davis 4-core aluminum radiator, Edelbrock pump, and standard flex fan that is barely in the shroud - no overheating issues whatsoever.

Don't get the Lokar flexible dip stick. It is worthless for checking your oil b/c it is a thin round piece of metal that you can't tell where the oil shows.

Franko, I think their more interested in the W based 408 than the Cleveland based 408.

Thanks for you input guys. Yes it is a Windsor based 408.

Ryan-
Thanks for the info. Is your Ron Davis custom built or what size, or model # do you have?

408

-Im running the bronco extreme mounts.

-Although I consider myself a stick guy I went to a built C4 with the 408 swap. I like the auto now that I have the power of the 408. Makes it more fun. Before the auto I was running a centerforce.

-Run shorties. Makes life easier. BC Bronco's shorties have 1 5/8 primaries which are enough for your 408 (most other brands are only 1.5"). Thats what I am running, with 3" duals after the headers.

- you dont need to drop serious coin for a Ron Davis in my opinion. Go to the Summit web site and find you the biggest Be Cool, Griffin or Summit that fits. Ive run one for years with zero issues.

-Ive tried lots of different fans. The best I have run is a Flex-a-lite Black Magic Extreme. Dont run a little cheap 30 amp plastic relay. Get a good 70 to 100 amp one. They wont leave you dead in the middle of nowhere.

-oil pan is a standard 5.0 pan. No issues there.

-I fabbed up my own airbox.

Nice rig Lee N.

Thanks for the advice.
WH sells a nice aluminum radiator and I am looking at that.

Did you replace the D20 output shaft with the heavy duty WH shaft?

What fuel tank and pump are you running for the EFI?
I have the 2006 version of the Sherman tank and it is not EFI compatible so I'll have to get an EFI tank.

FRANKO...how do you change the plugs on your rig?
