Was: "I’ve Never Had 72 Before!" Changed the title - thought I'd make this a mini-build thread!

Just picked up a 72 from a friend. I couldn’t pass it up. It’s pretty stock with the exception of being cut front and rear and the dash radio cut out. Lots of surface rust but minimal rot. Even the inner fenders near the firewall are rust free. The bed floor is totally rust free. The frame is really good too. One “odd” place that is rusted is the lower part of both of the rear top pillars. Not sure I’ve seen rot there before.

Now I need to figure out what kind of build I want to do! ;D

The Patina looks good to me, run through the mechanicals and drive it

The top rust is likely from it being left outside on the ground.

Thanks for all the comments! The body lines are pretty straight but it does need a lot of work. New brakes and getting it running are the first on the list. The tires are brand new "Gladiator" mud tires. I'm not familiar with this tire but they look pretty good! They are 31x10.50-15's. The seller threw in a newly rebuilt power steering box and a new pump/bracket I will be installing. The seats are fair, dash needs work. The dash pad is probably in the worst shape of any dash pad i've seen! I think I will get it running and safe to drive and enjoy it for a while before I start any build.

The rust in the top and possibly the windshield frame is from sweating or condensation inside the Bronco. I have some that have the same issue.

Now this is different . . . the more I look it over, the more solid it looks. The door posts and striker posts look perfect. The bottom of the doors just have a small amount of surface rust. It looks like the underside and wheel wells were all under coated very early in its life. The only place that is worse that I’ve found is the top is rusty where it attaches to the windshield frame on the driver’s side. All in all this is a pretty solid Bronco.

A few more pics. I picked up a battery today to see how much of the electrical components work. It's got a funky dual point distributor (no vacuum advance) and huge aftermarket coil. I'm planning on swapping them out to a more stock type dizzy and coil.
