Should I remove my resistor wire to my distributor?

I read a couple of posts on here about bypassing the resistor wire to my distributor and figured I’d ask. I have one of those HEI distributors and original wiring. Should I bypass the resistance section and put in regular wire? I know exactly where the section is and could do it in a few minutes.

HEI's draw enough power that I'd pull power for it directly from the battery. GM supplies power to them with a 12 gauge wire. Put an ignition switched relay in the power wire. That can be operated by the coil power wire (above the resistor) or by the ignition wire going to the alternator's regulator.

When you state HEI, I presume you mean a GM HEI style distributor and ignition module.
Remove the ballast resistor. Those are designed for a full 12V power.
