Thanks guys. I've been slow on posting more pics because my progress has also been slow and we had our second son a month ago, so we've been busy. I ordered all my parts over the last month except a couple, and I worked on it Monday and replaced the drivers side floor, patched some holes in the firewall, and extended my rear fenders. I'll post pics later today.

And yes, safety is a must. I'm almost done with the roll cage modifications for safety with extra gussets, floor, etc. I currently have power brakes, but have been contemplating hydroboost. I might have to do that later though, funds are spent.

More Progress

Well, I've been slowly working on my bronco over the past few months. Here's a few progress pics (forgive the messy shop)

Here's what I've been working on:
- extending rear inner fenders - wheel wells
- finalizing roll cage
- stripped all wiring, windshield, dash, etc.
- built custom core support (not welded yet) with battery trays and radiator mounts
- ordered tons of parts for the build $$$: rjm harness, jimmy joints for rear 3 link, autometer gauges, 3g alternator, dom tubing, wire harness, ballistic fab coil brackets, etc.
- my custom designed bead locks are being made
- replaced driver side floor and built custom floor channel
- prepared dash for overlay

Any advice is appreciated!

Yeah, just cut it in half and moved the rear part back. I have some sheet metail I'm going to use to fill the gap, it should look nice when it's done.

I've been working on the motor, I'm just trying to get it complete so I can move back to the Bronco. I installed all upper fuel injection, rails, intakes, etc. and also installed oil pump, pickup tube and pan. And to top it off put my polished aluminum valve covers on. I did get a chance to remove the motor and tranny out of the bronco and I cut the core support out.

These sure are fun to work on, I can't wait to hear this motor run.

That is a sweet looking engine. I was hoping to go with at 351 and considering EFi system but I have no Idea how to start or where to look. what did it cost you to throw yours together and what am I looking at for parts.

Great project. Quick question: Are you not having your rock skis extend out past the rockers at all? Or are you boxing whats left of the rockers before any skis?

I wanted to box in what was left of the rockers, so I inserted some 1x3 pieces which tucked in nicely and welded it in place. I sealed off both ends of the 1x3 pieces so no water could enter. I also cleaned and primed the area so it would stay sealed. Next I'm going to build some rock skis that are welded to the frame. Probably out of 1 5/8 tubing.

Thanks! I will consider doing a tech article, but there are also several others who have done this same conversion, one I remember is Duke Nukem.

Here's a brief rundown on this:

I'm using a 1995 351W with a stock 351W lower intake manifold. I believe the manifold I purchased is off of a 1991 Ecoline Van. Next, I purchased an entire Mustang (on years 88-93) upper fuel injection system, which came with injector harness, upper and lower intake manifold, and many sensors, etc. You can find these really cheap on ebay and craigslist. I paid $100 for mine with a computer.

In order to use the upper mustang intake and mount it to the stock 351 lower intake, you need an adapter plate that BC Broncos sells. It's a really nice piece that's easy to install. Once installed, the Mustang upper bolts easily to the adapter. For the fuel injectors, I used the stock 19lbs Mustang injectors, and although I haven't ran it yet, I hear that they work great since the stock injectors on a 351 are 19 lbs anyway.

Next, I bought a wiring harness from RJM Technologies and I also bought all new sensors, etc. from him. His harness is very nice!!! I have done an efi swap before with a mustang 302 and I modified that stock harness to work, but the RJM harness is much cleaner and all new parts.

That's a brief run down, here's the parts necessary if I can remember them all:

- 351 w lower intake
- Mustang upper intake, injectors, injector harness, sensors (MAF, TPS, etc.)
- BC Broncos adapter plate
- RJM Harness
- Electric fuel pump with 40+ psi
- Return fuel line to fuel tank
- EFI distributor (I bought mine from BC Broncos)
- EFI Coil (stock mustang or aftermarket)
- VSS Sensor
- HEGO Sensors

As I think of more I will add them. I'll keep you posted.

Thanks, it's been fun, my welds aren't that great and it's my first project with my tubing bender, but I'm starting to get the hang of it. I plan on adding a few more braces and then some inner fenders, I'll post more pics later.

3 Link - 1 tons installed

Well, it's been a while since I posted, but I have been working late nights on this thing, it's coming together well.

Here's my progress:

- Stretched to 104 WB - front 4 inches forward, rear 8 inches back
- 3 link installed in rear with 14 bolt axle
- 5 inch coils from Tom's installed on rear with adjustable Ballistic brackets
- Cage arms up front (already had these)
- Doubler installed with crossmember built (still need to weld doubler
- Engine installed for mockup
- Bead locks installed on rims and ready to get flat black ceramic coated

That's about it for now. I'll keep you posted on further progress.

Doubler setup, coils, front caged core support, etc. Any input is always helpful! As you can see, I'm running tie downs for a panhard right now!! I'll be running full hydro steering from Performance Off-road Systems and aluminum panhard bar (track bar) from SUmmit Machine.

Lots of work done, lots more to go, looks great. I like how the war flares keep the tires from sticking out. Brings the look together. I like all the tubing work but I love fabing stuff up too.

Any way to tell if the axle set up will cycle freely through compression and full droop?

I enjoy the fabbing too, I almost did a custom cage, but then decided to add to what I have, not done though. I plan to cycle this tonight to see how it flexes. I'll keep you posted.
