Sniper vs Aces vs FITech? Or carb to get it running?

Strict budget here. Planning EFI but just need to get this truck running so move around u set own power for paint etc.

Should I just throw a carb on to start then swap to the EFI TB setup later? I’m going to do all the plumbing now but would just run a low pressure electric pump vs the EFI pump.

If you tell me to buy once, cry once and go EFI….which one? Big price variation across the big 3. Note I’ll probably source it through FB MP from someone changing directions on a build.

I put a chinese 2150 clone carb on my 75 today and it runs well. It was $85 on amazon and I used an $11 fuel pump also from amazon. Took like 10 minutes.

I have actually heard a lot of positive feedback from the clones. The Holley versions as well. Doesn't take much for a basic carb to run. EFI is better once you have a running engine. When something is wrong you know it is in the EFI and not the engine. All at once, any issue turns into a mystery of which thing is off? I even go so far as to get the EFI running on the original ignition before converting to computer controlled timing. Small simple steps.

What have you got for a manifold? I'd be tempted to throw a cheap carb on now, as debugging a fresh TBI install will probably take time.

I sourced a used 4-barrel Edelbrock to replace the stock ‘94 lower intake.

I have a couple Holley…just in a 1000 pieces each. Perhaps I’ll throw a kit at 1 of them and run it. I just hate rebuilding carbs…and they hate me.

I have a friend in Germany that put a Chinese clone on his Jeep, the float bowl kept overflowing, thought he had it fixed until it caught fire in traffic and burned his 6 year build to the ground. He was pretty happy his grandchildren were not with him to witness the drama.

I’ll go Qjet. Assume I need an adapter square bore to spread bore.

Any suggestions on CFM or even a part number?

Call Jet Performance and speak to tech to see what you need for your engine. Use info acquired to search QJet on amazon or just get one from Jet Performance.

My 2c's... I had the same plans you did with EFI and am finally getting very close to it. What I did was put the stock 2brl back on the bronco for the same reasons you mentioned about getting it moving around. Decision there was based on a budget coupled with already having a complete stock fuel system, so why not use it until the other modifications were done and tested. My plan was to get it running (past that now) and driving (past that now) and into the R&D of the other mods I wanted to do before changing any of the fuel delivery or set up (new lift, steering, brakes, complete wiring harness, roll cage, etc).

Having it running and drivable has been awesome as it tends to alter your priorities and makes you focus on a bit more on the need right now, versus how you want to be when all completed.

I have an Aces Killshot on my Bronco for a little over a year, now. I have some tuning issues I have accepted are over my head, but from outside input I believe it is a fuel issue. Once it is on the highway it runs great. I also installed Aces Deuces Wild 2bbl system on a 77 Bronco 3 months ago and that system has been flawless.

In the grand scheme all the TBI systems appear to have their faults- Self tuning is a marketing ploy. They are self learning... They will only adjust to a set percentage and that is it. I would not hesitate to go Aces again, but in some ways I wish I would have stayed carb. As I spend more time with the system and I learn to understand fuel injection, it does get much easier.
