Sounding Board - To Cut or Not

I'm going through the same dilemma, ;)only in not selling mine. But I have dura flex flares waiting on the shelf.

Consensus here is to keep it uncut, I agree. However it depends on how you'll use it. If uncut works for the type of wheeling fine. But if you want monster tires and serious rock crawling you'll probably need to cut it.

Hey Jeff that’s a beautiful Bronco! Having been down this road a couple of times now I have an opinion. And an axle. That’s such a nice rig I doubt the buyer would take it out in the rocks. As such I’d leave it uncut. If the buyer wants to cut it then they can. Easy job to cut, really hard to replace cut outs. I’ve done both. 30 minutes to cut and untold hours to replace and finish. Hey Guys,

Thanks for all the input.

Mark's thoughts above express the same thing that I've been thinking. Cutting is easy. Fixing (or replacing) panels and paint is hard (and expensive). Not knowing what a new owner would like, I will leave the easier path available to them.

My main concern with the tires and wheels was that it would look out of proportion with the body and suspension lift. No real opinions about it looking odd, so that's going to be the plan unless someone is interested in buying it and wants it cut.

Appreciate all the advice.

I think letting the buyer decide is the right way to go. I actually like the 33s on it! I am a fan of slightly smaller tires and the way the fit in the wheel wells.

If you were going to keep it and trail it, I would cut it. But since your intent is to sell, keep it uncut. If you cut it and try to sell you’ll lose half your potential buyers. As others have said, let the buyer decide to cut or leave it uncut.

Very nice looking Bronco, BTW. I’d love to add a LUBR to my collection but my wife would kill me! ;D

Good point for sure if you're going to sell it.. Keep the original look

Do yourself a favor. Don't join the Sawzall crowd.

I kept my FJ40 bone stock and just sold it in five hours after putting it on CL. The fellow told me he had been looking for a reasonably priced stock 40 for a year and was sick of looking at modified ones.
So, there is that aspect of things.

Hi Rveryone,

I followed the LUBR path.

The Bronco isn't perfect: but, it's something I can be proud of.

It's listed on BaT... fingers crossed for a fair price (although that's subjective, I know).

If it doesn't sell I'm looking forward to driving it more next spring.

Thanks for all the input.

Hey Everyone,

After a lot of years the '70 is getting close to completion.

It has the heart of moderate trail rig, and the body of a pretty nice street Bronco.

Thinking about changing from the 35" MT Baja Claws which would require cutting to 33" (metric equivalent) MT3s that shouldn't require cutting the fenders.

The plan is to complete this and then see if any buyers are interested in it.

Justin at Wilburn's bought these tires and wheels with the intention of putting them on a half-cab he is building. He was nice enough to fit them up to our Bronco last Saturday.

The thinking is that it would be a lot easier for someone to cut the fenders if they wanted a rig to run the rocks most of the time as opposed to replacing the fenders and repainting.

Anyone care to offer an opinion?

Hopefully only a few weeks away from completion.

Thanks for an opinions.

Je
Don’t ruin it by cutting. If you must buy some aftermarket cut fenders ad save originals

Keep the truck uncut. When and if you sell it, let them cut it.

BTW, you have a nice truck...

You cannot uncut it, once it is cut it is done. No way I would cut it, ever.

Hi Everyone,

Thanks for the comments and compliments.

My thinking was the same as fordguy's... you can't un-cut fenders. I decided to leave it alone and see how it works out.
