But then, there are always these: WH Extreme Spindle Bushing Thingies
The sealed nature and non-roller self-sizing design of these bearings can prevent pretty much anything from getting past them.
Makes the performance (or lack thereof) of the previously discussed parts mostly moot.

Paul,
Since you brought it up, explain.

I bought a set of these Extreme Spindle Bushing Thingies, but they were such a loose fit on the new stub axle I decided to go with the already installed needle bearings in the new spindles.

I would expect a bushing like that to have significant shrinkage on the ID when pressed into position. Until they're installed they will be loose on the shaft.

Hey Oldtimer. Sorry about the issue. Did you call in and check to see if it was within spec? They are in fact quite loose when just placed around the axle shaft prior to installing in a spindle. But they are only going to squeeze down so much, so it's good to know exact numbers the next time you have both bushings and shafts together.
Here is the video accompanying the part on our page: https://www.wildhorses4x4.com/product/Extreme_Spindle_Bushings_Dana30-44/bronco_Dana44#videos which shows in a quick bit how loose they are under normal conditions.
And near the end it shows how tightly the axle shaft fits into it once installed in the spindle.

Let us know if that's now how yours were.
Now, if they were something more along the lines of a quarter inch too big, then you probably got the Dana 60 version instead!

Paul,

Nothing in package indicated bushings were oversized to allow for shrinkage when pressed into spindle.
I suspected that was the case, but was not about to beat a new needle bearing out of a new hub (on a Friday afternoon) to find out.
I got 40+ years on the original bearings, so I should be good for a few years.

Yeah, hard to resist leaving a brand new bearing in place! Don't disagree with that at all.
Couple of things you can do. Keep them for a future project of course. Or bring them with you to the Roundup this Saturday!
You know how that works... Return a $30 part and walk away with $200 or more in new ones!;):D

But think of the fun...
