start up problems

guys,
primed carb, turned oil pump. no start just cranked. what do i try
next? also will mechanical fuel pump pump fuel if not started? i dont see
fuel coming up. but why no start when i prime?

You need fuel, air and spark.
Priming took car of the air and fuel.
Need to check if you are getting spark while cranking. Then you need it at the right cylinder at the right time. Putting in a distributor 180° out of phase is common mistake. Engine won't run when spark is a the top of the exhaust stroke. Pull #1 spark plug wire, put finger over hole, bump engine over until compression blows your finger off the hole. then line up TDC, set distributor, try again.
