Hey guys, is this a factory spare carrier for a ‘74? I don’t think it is but wanted to make sure. Buddy is looking into buying this one and everything looks original except for this. At least to my eye.

Also what about this AC unit? Dealer installed? Aftermarket?

The tire carrier is an aftermarket unit. Not a stock Ford one.

All A/C systems are aftermarket. A/C was never a factory option on the first generation Bronco.

Thanks I thought so.

In reference to the AC system I was just wondering if it looked period correct like a dealer may have installed it in ‘74

It’s not like the dealer installed units I have owned or seen. That doesn’t mean a dealer did not do it, but the ones I am familiar with are made by ARA. This one is in my ‘77 and was installed by the dealer. It is identical to ones I have seen in earlier years.

Tire carrier is not stock. AC, as you mentioned is dealer option/installed. However, it's pretty much era correct for what they were installing back in the day.

BTW, I love seeing the ingenuity and/or engineering behind vehicles.
