I need a T Case Speedo Gear for my stock 1972 bronco. This is the gear inside the T case not on the cable. My T Case does not have one. Does anyone know what the stock gear size is 7 or 8? I have found both on the web but none of the sealers have any information on the one I need. 4:11 with 33 ' tires.

The drive gear? My '74 was a 7 tooth and I struggled to find one. Toms wound up finding one in a D20 and shipped it to me

Thank I will get a 7. I notice on the photo there is no Key so what keeps it from free-wheeling on the shaft? Are there shims that compress it between the two barrens?

One more thing, is there some kind of indicator so I don't get in upside down? I would hate to get it back to gather and then find I installed it upside down and have the speedometer try and run backward.

Both tooth counts were available in Broncos I believe. At least both have been discussed before, but don't remember if they were both in Broncos, or just in the transfer cases in general.
Since Jefe had a 7, at least that's a good start. But what other mods have you done? Big tire size change, or gear change by any chance?

If they were both indeed found in Broncos, then which drive gear you had would have depended on what gear ratio and tire size options were chosen originally.
And with factory tire sizes having not been that much different I would not think, then I'd say the differential gear choice would have made the biggest difference.

Didn't someone (Viperwolf maybe?) post up a chart on not only which tire size vs driven gear, but also which drive gear to get there? I'll see if I can find it.

That would be a bummer! But I don't think it matters which way it goes in. The spiral flutes (or whatever they would be called in this case) flow in the same direction no matter which way the gear is installed.
But don't quote me on that!

As well, don't quote me on the interference fit, but yes I think the gear is somewhat sandwiched in-between everything else and does not rotate on the shaft after things are fully assembled.

As you can tell, it's been a lot of years under the bridge since I've had one apart.

Thanks, Everyone for the information. The bronco is stock except for the 33" tires. Once I get the gear installed I will check the rotation.

Only 6 or 7 tooth gears. You can only use one from a Bronco D20. Other make D20s have a reverse cut speedo gear.

Tater, is the one you have laying around a 6 or 7?

I'm looking for a 7 here.
I'm running 33's on a Dana 20 4.1 ratio. Speedo is off 15% on avg.

Your internal gear is damaged? If not you can get the speedo close to accurate by changing the speedometer cable gear. How many teeth on it?

I've got a 7 tooth I bought when I thought I wanted to try different tire sizes. It was never used and I would happily give away. Shipping shouldn't be more than a few bucks. Just PM me.

Jim Click Ford in the late '80s. I don't think they have parts for anything made before 2010 now.
