T18 swap cross member support problem

So doing a T18 swap using the Advanced Adapters T18/NP435 adapter*. Everything is in and mated up nicely, except for the cross member. The excessive length of the T18 has pushed everything back about an inch, as a result the cross member supports can't get into the frame rails.

Prior to doing this swap, I did my reading. Looked into the modifications necessary, and the only thing that was ever mentioned was "possible drive line modification." Since the truck just received a 5.5" lift, so what, it has to be done anyways... Now I'm staring down the fact that the cross member is NOT going back in as it sits. Did I do/am I doing something wrong? Is there an article on this I can't find?

Pertinent tech:
1970 w/ 302, new motor mounts from Tom's, T18 swap in progress, Advanced Adapters 50-2700, stock Dana 20 & cross member, new cross member bushings from Tom's, 5.5" lift...

Bolt a 1/4 inch plate to the frame using the stock holes in the frame. Countersink your fasteners. Then locate where you need the new location of the mount. Mark where you need the new holes. Drill and tap for new bolt locations. Bolt on stock mounts in new location. Enjoy the new trans.

T18 is an inch longer than the NP435. The NP435 is a rare exception in that the crossmember actually goes back in the stock location. Relocating or building a new crossmember is considered the norm with most transmission swaps.
