Red wasn't fast enough so it's black now. Frame side mounts done. Balancer delete oil blockoff installed and oil pan reinstalled permanently. These do not use a gasket of any type but instead a gray RTV. I had Ultra Black on hand so I used that, should be fine I think, it's always been my go to for diff covers.

I'm lending out my engine hoist tomorrow for a couple days, looks like a good window to get the flywheel and clutch installed.

You'll notice the turbo drain is hammered, turns out it's very thin and soft and doesn't like bouncing around during mockups. I considered converting to braided hose but a new tube was $10 and it will be fine.

Decided to do a quick and dirty wire wheel and paint job while everything was still accessible. Once the drivetrain goes back in it's not coming back out any time soon if I can avoid it.

im really looking forward to seeing this run, is it about 200 pounds lighter than a 5.0

That's just a dinky 30! Not sure what I'm doing with it yet.

Sometimes I hate this hobby, great at keeping me broke.

I'm getting a free 79 HP44 from a buddy and I'm looking at a Detroit locally for $450. I didn't want to build a cast wedge axle but the price is right and it will be easy enough to use for now.

Guess I'm doing this. Ordered the gears and got the Detroit. Also found a 4.88 8.8 with lockrite I'm considering, it's an easy button.

Going down the rabbit hole.... since I'm running FW I really ought to space out the coil buckets, the Duff buckets look good. Then I should probably move them forward while I'm at it. Oh look, now the steering box has to move forward and the body mount is in the way. And I really should have long arms if I'm doing all this right? I like this DIY design.

That’s a simple design that works well on full width. They rub the tires on a stock width.
I want to run as high an offset as I can get away with so I might still have some rub?

You might have some, but it depends on your tire size too, which I’ve forgotten.
37x12.5 is the end goal but I'm going to throw some 35x10.5s on zero offset wheels on initially since I have them handy.

No better way to get it done than diving right in. Starting installing the yota IFS box.

I don't like how much body mount I was left with, there is some bracing ahead.

This should give me at least 3" stretch in the front, maybe 4".

Got the frame sleeves welded in, next going to make some frame plates for a little extra beef.

Finished pulling out the steering column, it was beyond saving anyway. I have a good 70s F150 column that I was thinking about using, but I just noticed it has quite a few differences. The dash bracket doesn't reach the dash and the wiring plugs are totally different. I think I can remedy the first part by using the bracket off the old column. Or just get something else.

Couldn't find my 7* reamer to open up the yota pitman, but I haven't seen it in years so 🤷‍♂️. I remember it being quite expensive back in the day but I just ordered another one for $40.
