76,

Can's say that I feel your pain just yet with the motor problems but I am gonna try and get my EFI conversion started up this week and my fingers are crossed!

Good luck. I hope that you get it figured out.

Well I've concluded that I've been beaten by PATS and I"ve modified the harness enough to not be able to use the 555F disabler. Poo.

But in my disgust, I was able to hook up the gas pedal, figure out the twin stick don't fit, put some 1/0 gage welding cable down the frame and put a nice quick disconnect at the rear bumper for my new jumper cables, remount my 3 port accessory plug (3 cigarette lighters) removed the front seat, took the top off (it IS summer, even in my garage...actually I did it to get some light inside to do some work) Now I'm going to try and fab up a spare tire carrier.

Beside myself with it not running...I have everything but injector pulses...PATS can suck my #&@^ :-X

Does this mean an aftermarket harness and a mustang computer? What is the next step?

Pete, the Bronco fund is all tapped out...been hemoraging cash to get it to this point. So close, yet SO far away. Next step?? The tank has some gas - and I have some matches...

Hey 76Ma, throw ya' a carb on that rig and come on to Gore!!!!%)%)%)

Ben, I'm kicking myself for selling the carb'd engine...had I known it was going to take this long.......hindsight is 20/20.

I have 2 weekends left to wrench. Still have to prep the RV and pack it all up, plus a few other things that popped up...I just may be campsite b!tch that weekend.

Not sure it is a smart idea to burn a turd...

I feel your pain, I took out the 74 today and it is just going backward faster than I can move it forward. Will probably just pull it in the garage and tear it down to the frame and start a frame up on it. But I am hijacking your thread, back to you!

Fatboy,

That is some funny stuff!!! LMAO!!! ;D

76,

I feel your pain about the carbs because I sold mine as well. So this EFI had better work or I am SKEEREWED! Its gonna fire up though! %) Hey, if you wanna switch over to a distributor and get rid of the explorer distributorless ignition I have a 91 Mustang Dizzy that would work for you. Actually maybe not because I guess you are running the explorer computer! %)

Either way, I got my fingers crossed for you! ;D

Thanks Rob,

I have spark, I have fuel and air isn't the issue. The PATS system is preventing the injectors from squirting...so the engine is disabled.

Just got an email from the twin stick guy. I have the wrong ones. IF he can get me anything, it'll be bolted on as I'm hooking up for leave for Virgina. NOT exactly how I want things to go, but if I've learned anything out of this entirely frustrating build is that nothing is within our control...

Hmmmm, what about a different year Explorer computer that didn't have the PATS system?

NAPA lists 4 different computers for the 2000 Explorer...maybe one doesn't have the PATS system?

I've been doing a lot of searching too...'96 was the first year for the 302 (non-PATS), '97 was non-PATS and '98 was the first year with the PATS. The next question then went to the EGR and fuel systems of the different years. Would the computer off a '97 fire a '00???? a thread on ford-truck-enthusiasts said a '96 computer fired it right up, but didn't mention how well it ran...

Even if I get a '96 or '97 computer ($50 -$100 from a junkyard) there are several to choose from (9 I believe, if you look at car-part.com) and which one that will work is a mystery to me...Then I have the twin stick issue, the rear seat needs to be sewn up by my wife, my RV generator doesn't start, so that's going out to get fixed and the Bronco still needs exhaust...too much to do and I have 4 days left (3 actually, something ALWAYS comes up)...

I need a week off to complete everthing...that's just not possible right now...

put it in by hand when you get to Gore, you don't need no stinking shifters!
Have my guy looking into it to try and TRICK it!

My Explorer is a 98 and didn't have the PATS system. It's now a 90 something Mustang and runs pretty good. I would thing swapping an exlporer computer to explorer computer would work OK, but who knows. If I remember right the pin numbers are all the same from year to year on that diagram Todd sent you.

Do you know anyone with an older computer you could borrow and see what happens?

Ya. hammer and a pry-bar shifting...

From what I've read, you can't...let me know if he has a way...I've pulled the PATS key receiver out of the column, unfortunately, none of the wires match up to the PCM.

I've got the OBDII plug mounted, but it's not hooked up. Can't match all the wires.

thats alright Steve we can hang out and drink beer during the day(and night!)

Not with the kids around...or my recent blood pressure findings...

I don't. Randy just sent me a link to a guy parting out a '97 locally. Sending the wife on savenger hunts like this rarely ends up with positive results (It's like sending me to go clothes shopping for her...) and taking the kids with me throws off their entire schedule as they fall asleep in the Jeep.
