The column shifter is sloppy and needs to be rebuilt. My buddy who owns a shop and has been doing this for years and suggests to move it to the floor. He says I will thank him later. Any experiences with this or suggestions? THanks

Go for it. The Duff floor shifter is the best. Angled better for your right knee and has a shorter throw. I did the conversion on my '66 and it made a world of difference.

The only thing you'll miss is the floor space. Otherwise, it's the way to go for sure. Ditto on the Duff's. Also have a matching t-case shifter with a slight offset that works well too.

Do it, sounds like you're ready for the conversion.
