Alright it has been quite a while since I could get down and dirty with the Bronco. Life always has something else for me to do. Now, I am finally getting back into it. I started fabbing the shroud for the transmission cooler.

You can pretty much see what I am doing with it but I used my brake to form the shell of the cooler setup. I made it out of 18 ga. mild steel. I made a 1"x1" angle frame to add some strength back to the inner fender since I cut a huge hole in it.

Ok some more progress. The new job has me going all day and all week and this is supposed to be the slow season. I barely had enough time to throw down some yuengling at BMC's house during a work travel thing. Oh and I was able to consult the "shelves of helpfulness" while I was there. That is where the torque converter came from.

I am trying to get this thing going and straight for the Hooters Meet in Richmond. Countdown has begun.

I fully installed the cooler frame/cooler/shroud/fan assembly. I need to plumb it yet but that is a quick thing. I had to cut a section of floor out to gain access for the twin stick install. I have a piece that covers the hole and makes access in the future a snap.

I had to take the column out as mentioned so I redid a bunch of stuff on it. All bearings looked good so I greased them and reinstalled them.

The Upper column plastic housing was trashed. I wondered what the hell to do with it. I couldn't find a new one for sale. One of the pivots actually drove through it and then came completely loose. Stupid design if you ask me. To dress and strengthen it up I took a 4" long piece of 4" diameter PVC pipe and cut a slit in it. That would be at the bottom of the column. I riveted it to the original plastic housing and cut the holes for the turn signal/tilt shaft and the hazard flasher switch. Then I beveled the edges on the belt sander so that it didn't interfere with the tilting of the wheel and reinstalled it. I then painted the column, fabbed cover, shifter bezel, and put it all back together.

I welded on the column mount too. Never did that before.:p

I also added a Grant steering wheel. I think it looks nice.

Oh yeah and the antique plate since I just got it back on the road after a year or so of being down.

.

LOL..Filly and call those the 'shelves that keep on giving' since we managed to practically complete the rolling chassis resto for her '69 without doing more than digging chit out of the rows of shelves, time and time again. Lots of head scratching and moving junk around.."now where did I stash that D20 auto adapter when I took it out back in '97??;D " But now Filly knows more about where everything is than I ever did..and she actually possesses a functional memory.:p WooT!

HTH man..see ya at Hooters!

Ah I thought it was something like that. That shop does need a woman's touch though.

The truck is going good. My first extended road test is tomorrow to work (40 miles).

Now I need to change all the fluids and replace all the hose clamps. Then it is on to the pto winch bumper/pto/shafts/winch fab, and rollbar install. Man, I think this is the most productivity I have ever had on the truck and it is all in a one month span.

Thanks for the compliments on the wheel! That was the easy part. ;)

Well, plans didn't work out and I didn't get to take it but I am going on a short trip tonight. I am gonna burn through a tank I think.

I am breaking my back trying to get the winch bumper fabbed and the rollbar in over here. Feels like I am working two jobs again. It is a good feeling though.

Sorry I can't stop by to help you out. I just got home. Had a bunch of military support folks arrive yesterday, I have a going-away party for one of my old team leaders tomorrow, and trash to do for the Inauguration on Sunday. :-[

I haven't got time for crap. My doors are out back in the shed, new door seals are sitting in the family room, a set of spring rockers are enroute, it's cold outside, I have no garage, the Bronc has no heater, I can't weld, etc., etc., etc. ALL IS GOOD, I'M WHEELING ON THE 18TH! ;)

I hope the party is typical and safe ;p ! You can use my garage and all the tools all day tomorrow if you want. I still have your number I think....yup. If it is still the 202 number. If you want to do that in the morning then let me know. It is all yours. Also I have a heater box if you want to go and put it back in: hint, hint!
