I'm still running Yukons with Super joints & 37" tires and the are living fine so far. With that said they should break in the driveway tomorrow. %)

Here's a thread on Pirate about the RCV axles -

http://www.pirate4x4.com/forum/showthread.php?t=855207

Looks like a couple guys have broken them and it seems RCV honors the warranty. Looks like one guy had an issue but maybe it was a mutual issue.

IF they are as strong as they say it may be worth the money. I have only broken one axle shaft and it was stock. I don't use alot of skinny pedal but that could change.

I might look a little closer at these WHEN my axles go.

Looks like you are running 33's. Right now I have 35's and would like to possibly move up to 37's or 38's.

How long have you had the Hard Rock shafts and how do you know they are not Yukons?

I have an email into Tom's, but have not heard back yet.

Thanks for the input Chris -- I was actually going to PM you to see what you had.

Time to upgrade the entire axle, not just the shafts, IMO. Those size tires, depending on the kind of wheeling you do, are pushing the limits on a D44 regardless of what shafts are in it.

My thoughts exactly. A stuffed and cranked a cut down set of Chevy Blazed stock Spicer axles with standard spicer U-joints on 33's for years. Never an issue (except one time I used a cheap off brand U-joint in a pinch due to some experimenting that messed up the good spicer U-joint and the cheapy broke taking out the axle). 33" tires don't need monster $1000 worth of shafts and U-joints. Blowing money for no good reason.
Now want to run nearly 40" tires and play hard? Might as well sell the 44 now while it is still worth something.

I ran stock axles for a long time without even a u-joint failure then all the sudden I developed a bad habbit of to much throttle wile hard over driver reverse, now I can't keep track of how many I have replaced. I have now spent the mony for RCV's and look forward to hard over without the three wheel drive roll/winch of shame that usually follows. Jon

.....As far as chevy parts on my ford well lets just say that's not going to happen. You can always use full with ford f150 axles with little effort.
