transmission lines with EFI reverse radiator

Needed a new radiator anyway so i thought I was ahead of the game buying the wildhorses aluminum radiator made for the serp. setup. Anyway, my brand new radiator cooling lines are now on the wrong side. what is everyone doing to remedy? Is anything ever simple..... :(

Was thinking it may have been easier to get the original style and use a cross over pipe instead of complete new lines

The bottom inlet is the colder side of the radiator. That's where the trans heat exchanger is. With the EFI radiators, the tanks are reversed and the trans heat exchanger needs to stay on the cold side. That is an issue with the Champion radiators, their EFI radiators have the heat exchanger on the convenient, hot side.
I'm running a crossover with the stock copper/brass radiator. My trans cooling is handled through two aux coolers and bypasses the radiator.

so stay away from champion then? I am looking for an easy fix...which usually isn't possible I have found...

So you're saying the tranny cooler ports are on the driver's side of the radiator? If so, I gotta admit I wasn't aware of that little design gem. And the ones I'm used to looking at (displays in our showroom) I thought had the ports on the standard passenger side.

There is often a difference in thread size, so adapters are sometimes needed, but this is the first I've heard of them being reversed.

You didn't say "transmission" in your first post, but that's what it sounds like.
Looks like I've got my first Monday search-and-destroy hunt planned out now!

Paul, please post back your findings. The lower hose tank needs to house the trans heat exchanger, for it to be on the cold side of the radiator.

That's correct Paul. At this point, I'm contemplating getting the regular radiator and getting the cross over pipe.

There is an AL rad out there for the Bronco and EFI that has the tranny ports on the cold side, the driver side, However I don't recall where I saw it, when/if I find it I will post it.

The Ron Davis radiators have the cooler on the correct side.

The 4.0 explorer aluminum rad is on the driver side.

The OP was hoping to leave his trans cooling lines on the passenger side and not have to move them over to the drivers side. But with the EFI radiators, the cold side is the drivers side now. Nope, nothing is simple. %)

what would everyone do? Get one with the lines on the "hot" side or get a standard radiator not for the 5.0 efi and use crossover tube?

I would rather do the crossover tube than buy a radiator with a useless trans cooler in it.

Everyone is on the right track. I wasn't even thinking about the hot coolant always being right on top of the trans cooler coil when it is entering the radiator right above it. That is indeed why the RD radiator has the trans cooler lines on the driver's side.
Everybody else at WH seemed to know that except for me!

What about the third option? Re-plumbing from the passenger side to the driver's side along the bottom of the radiator? You can bend up some hard line, or even interface it with some soft tubing without having to completely re-bend or re-plumb all the way back to the trans.
Even Ford did this on my F350. The tubes were probably common to the chassis, and simply changed with options such as an external cooler. It's got hard lines all the way, with junctions just there behind the radiator down near the bottom.

Just a thought anyway.
