Well, I finally get to work on my tire carrier. I built the bumper (mostly) last winter in TN then had to move back south. I had to wait to get back in a house to get back to work... It worked out ok though cause I inherited a lathe from my Grandpa so I got to build my hinge....;) Here are a few pics..

Tire carrier

Nice job. How did you do the latch set up? Any plans for adding a gas can or cooler rack?

Thanks for the compliments. I thought about using the spindle idea, but I didn't want to have to mess with removing the bearings to take off the carrier (which I seem to do alot for hauling larger items). I may add a can holder later, but no plans for now. I haven't built the latch yet. I am planning to have a box(?) welded to the top of the bumper with a 3/4" bolt pointing towards the rear that the carrier will slide over, then a big homemade wingnut. Similar to a WH carrier a friend has. I should get it built this weekend, hopefully..... I'll post a pic.

pics of my latch

Here is my latch. It is semi complete. I will be making the nut into a big wingnut for ease of removal.
