Was this ever common? Leather bed cover

My bronco came with this soft top and snap on bed cover from the previous owner. I haven’t seen the snap on bed cover on any other broncos. Wondering if this was common or one off?

That is custom one off.
I remember that style being pretty popular in the 80s. Known as a bit of a pain as to put one on it had to be a warm day when the fabric would stretch enough to get the snaps to reach. And rain would just pool on the cover, sagging it, allowing more rain to pool. Hence Tasker's upgrade with the arched brace on his.
Another thing that points to one off, it fits around the roll bar. 100% of the bars are aftermarket, and there is no standard of exactly where that kicker brace goes. So to fit the bar for your Bronco, it could only be a custom made bed cover.

Had a bronco brother (Tim) down in the Carolinas that made one out of shiny diamond plate and it would flip up on struts and I think it locked. Yeah I know, I'm not a fan of the diamond plate but honestly it looked good.

It was common enough on trucks and utility vehicles (and of course, convertibles and sports cars), but like the others have said, most of them were custom made to fit the vehicle.
Without a roll-bar you could probably buy them from the usual sources (including JC Whitney no doubt!) but adding anything meant that you either had to have someone customize an existing one, or just do it custom from the get-go.

Killer thanks for the input guys. This is pretty much what I figured. I think it’s cool but I’ll likely remove the snaps and weld up the holes when I repaint the body
