Tony:

Which tank are you using? I've been using a junkyard Bosch pump from an '88 Ford pickup since my EFI conversion in '97. $20 and still running strong. I have 1-2 extra Bosch junkyard pumps as spares.

Todd,
I have a MWMP 23 gallon with a 1" body lift .. not a big junk yard scavenger but I can't beat the price
Think I will check the local yards.
Where are you mounting it ?

I run one with a 23 gal tank with no problems. You can get cheap replacements off of ebay too if you don't want to mess with a junkyard ;)

Not motor specific or model specific, just ford EFI fuel pump. Any ford EFI external fuel pump will work. just make sure you don't get the one in the tank. Some had two, one in the tank and one on the frame. You want the external pump not the one in the tank. The one I use looks like this picture but you can use any brand. I carry one in the tool box I got off ebay for $30-40 bucks for a spare.

I had to replace the tank sending unit for the gauge
So I removed the filter sock

With the ethanol crap in the gas the filter sock will probably get clogged
since you are circulating the entire tank of gas about every 20 minutes Every speck of dirt in the tank will be in the sock in a week or two
Use a plastic see thru filter between the tank and pump. And a EFI filter between the pump and engine

One thing to be EXTREMELY careful of is creating ANY restriction between the pump and the fuel tank. If it's going to vapor lock, that is where it will do it. I suspect that this and noise are the two reasons that the OE's no longer use external EFI pumps, they're all in the tank to shorten the length of plumbing under a vacuum to the barest minimum length.

I did the calcs once, and promptly lost them. A 1 psi pressure drop lowers gasoline's boiling point by a significant number. I remember being surprised by just how much it was. It was enough that the fuel will boil in the hose at slightly elevated ambient temperatures. 1 psi down from ambient pressure is pretty easy to do, be careful there. I would not suggest a typical fuel filter in that stretch of hose, too restrictive fresh out of the box - never mind once partly full of debris. Clean and line the tank if necessary, but get or make a new pick-up strainer sock.

Thanks for the feedback ... Can it be mounted on the rear cross member or is it better on the frame rail ?

The common one carries a part number of "E2000", but you have to get a mounting bracket from a junkyard or eBay.
Summit also sells a pump with mounting bracket for the E2000.

I found one of these Bosch pumps in our shop this week and I want to use it as a back up. I'm running a '93 Mustang 5.0L and it looks like the free flow rate on these Bosch pumps is significantly higher than the pump i'm using now. Could this create a problem? My existing pump is 130lpm and the Bosch is 200lpm.

LOL, I bought a Bosch one , it was bad from the box. I swapped it out to an Airtex E2000 and it has been fine.
I use a 2 pump system and an accumulator, but this go around, I will use only the High pressure pump mounted on the frame rail right near the tank, where the Low Pressure one is now actually.

Pic shows current LP pump.

I had thought the cure for the fuel issues at elevation was dumping the elaborate fuel systems and just using the frame mount Hi press. pump near the tank.
I could be wrong , it has been a few years since I read that thread.
Most of the noise issues were from bad pumps, mine were not bad (sound wise), and not "hearable" once running. I liked be able to hear the whine when you turn the key ... you know it's working.
