Optima batteries kick ass in my opinion. I've been running a red top for 6 years without a problem in my daily driver. I bought a blue top for my Bronco and ended up using it to get my car home after my alternator had crapped out in my daily driver and I had inadvertently drained my red top down to nothing. It easily made the trip of ~30 miles through Bay Area traffic with no alternator.
Now, I have the blue top installed in my Bronco. Just yesterday, I cranked it over quite a bit to get the fluids circulated before hooking up the coil wire. Battery never wavered and it charged right up. I've drained them down to dead a few times and they've always charged right back up and soldiered on, highly recommend them despite the flak that they seem to get on this board.
BTW, I bought my blue top from Costco, so if I ever do have a problem with it, easy return.
