Optima batteries kick ass in my opinion. I've been running a red top for 6 years without a problem in my daily driver. I bought a blue top for my Bronco and ended up using it to get my car home after my alternator had crapped out in my daily driver and I had inadvertently drained my red top down to nothing. It easily made the trip of ~30 miles through Bay Area traffic with no alternator.

Now, I have the blue top installed in my Bronco. Just yesterday, I cranked it over quite a bit to get the fluids circulated before hooking up the coil wire. Battery never wavered and it charged right up. I've drained them down to dead a few times and they've always charged right back up and soldiered on, highly recommend them despite the flak that they seem to get on this board.

BTW, I bought my blue top from Costco, so if I ever do have a problem with it, easy return.

I have a red top in my Bronco as it's only battery. I also have a yellow top in my 4Runner as it's 2nd battery. I've had no problems with either.

Bought a reject red top and its been in the Bronco for two seasons. Battery died in my pickup so it went into there for plow duties - never failed me.

MotorCraft, Interstate MTP, or Sears DieHard Gold are all top-of-the-line Johnson Controls batteries with 8-year warranties, more CA, more CCA, & more reserve minutes than an Optima of the same group. Optima is a gimmick battery (also made by JC, like DuraCrap), and the red-top warranty specifically EXcludes any electrical modifications or additions to the vehicle. That means, if you swap the radio or add a welding alternator, technically, your battery has no warranty. Of course, very few dealers enforce that, but they can... No such problems with the good batteries.
