Whining Noise when Bronco is Running

I bought a 1970 Bronco last year and it has always had a whining noise when it is running. It seems to run great though was wondering if the whining noise is normal? It has a 351 Cleveland in it and has an automatic transmission.

You can hear it in the below video.

Any thoughts from the group? Thanks!

Don't know what is up with this. I can read the preview but can't see the post when I open it.

For a quick check, take the belts off and try again. I can't access the link I see in the preview as it is not in the actual post. But things like power steering and alternator can make noise. If the noise goes away, put the belts on one at a time and see when the noise comes back.

Presuming this is heard at idle and not when actually moving there are a couple more options. Transmission pump, this may change intensity as it goes into gear, most notably reverse. Or since someone swapped in a non-stock engine maybe they put in a gear drive to replace the timing chain. Many aftermarket gear drives are noisy to sound like a supercharger.

Thanks - not sure what is up with the post, will try to edit it.

The guy I bought it from said it was the timing gears so you might be right on there. I just wanted to make sure it wasn't a bigger issue. I guess I notice it more at idle than when I am moving but then again I can't hear that well when it is moving. ;D

I also have a small leak at the differentials after I drive it. There seems to be one in the front, one in the middle, and one in the rear. It leaks a quarter size out of each after each time I drive it. Do seals just need replaced?

Thank you!

A buddy of mine ran a set of the timing gears on his truck. It almost sounds like a blower (supercharger) noise when I first heard it. They definitely have a sound of their own, a whine is the best description I can think of.

Thanks, that is exactly what it sounds like....a constant whine. Did it sound like in the video below? It doesn't bother me as long as there isn't a bigger issue.
