That's very close to what I'm running in my stroked 351W. The operating range is a little high for rock crawling but is Ok if you are geared low enough. If I had it do over again I would pick a cam with a lower bottom end.

The specs for the cam I'm running is attached

JW,

That cam is very close. It's a flat tappet where I need a roller and it states NO to computer controlled. Only a 100 RPM difference in the power band. I think the cam I listed is the roller version of the cam you have.

I know the XE264HR-14 is EFI friendly per EFI Guy. Found a couple of posts from him on it.

That's close to mine jw except mines not the 4x4 mines the 262 extreme energy.....

Timmy Your in the world of cant find a low rpm roller...I been there went FT, Look at Lunati they have a towing roller That Jeff Livingston just put in his rebuild that has lower rpm range and is a roller.

I bet Mr. Livingston is running one of these

20350611 Idle-5000
20350612 1000-5200 (very close to the XE264HR-14)

Also, I'm running a C4, I notice in your rig information you plan on going to a 5 speed. That cam choice with EFI and manual 5 speed is probably fine.

You can also do a quick search over on norcalbroncos.com to read about the stump-puller Comp Cams model quite a few of the guys are running.
I wanted a little less lift than they were specifying though, so went with the next model down. Had just slightly less duration than I would have liked, but still should be in the sweet spot.

If you are ever unsure about the usable rpm range of a cam you're going to use, based on what others are saying, you can always advance the cam timing with special timing gears with offset keyways.
Advancing a cam lowers the specific rpm range for peak torque. It's not a huge amount, but can be very noticeable. Using 2, 4 or 6 degrees as your advance can wake up the lower rpms with a given cam unless it's just way too much to compensate for.

Good luck.

The norcal gents seem to like this one
35-308-8 (Magnum line) RPM range 1200-5200 vs. 1500-5500 on the XE264HR-14

It has a bit more lift than the XE264HR-14 but a bit less duration.

I have the xe264hr-14 in my '70. Similar engine configuration as yours with gt40 heads. Explorer injection with 24 lb injectors.

Stock hyper-eutectic pistons at about 8.8:1 compression. Runs on regular 86 octane gas without pinging. Gobs of torque, maybe 300 horsepower. 14-16 mpg on the interstate depending on speed (65-75 mph typically). I have a 4R70W, 4.88 gears and 34's.

Here is a comparison of the cam to the truck/explorer cam.

Thanks for the info and graph Viperwolf1

Were you able to use the stock push rods? I'm going to check it before is do anything just trying to get a feel for if the stock ones will maybe work.

I didn't have the stock pushrods so I had to measure.

I'm running the 35-349 in a 347and have about 500 miles behind the wheel on it. I'll get you more details later but give me more info on the rest of your combo as well.
In my case I'm thinking of pulling the timing cover and advancing it 4 degrees. I think comp cams has this cam with 4 deg advance as another part number and it lowers power by about 400 rpm

My setup will end up being

351W GT40 top end, stock bottom end (cam to be determined)
ZF 5 speed
4.11 gears
17x8.5 Method Wheels 285x75x17 Nitto Grappler MT Tires 33's

Right now I have 32's and stock 3 speed, 4.11's
