Does anyone know of a way to support the windshield with just a roll bar and not the front cage.....could you just run turnbuckles from the dash to the windshield frame?

I would come up with a way to tie it into the roll bar. Two long pieces(round bar) and clamp it to the roll bar and put tabs on it to bolt to the frame, should be hard...I would think-I have a front cage, but I almost did just that 'til I found the cage kits.

I liked the idea I saw a few days ago on here in the random pics that come up on the main page. It was a short rod with small heim on both ends with a turnbuckle in the middle...they just had a bolt screwed into the cage from the bottom, and the other on a bolt on the windshield... Not sure who's it was...

Yeah I understand how to do it if I have the front cage but I will probably just be getting a roll bar for a little while

Are you running a soft top? if so try to make something similar to the horizontal rod that connects between the frame and the front top hoop. but instead of the rod going to the hoop it would connect to the roll bar....does that make sense? I'm just trying to help ya ?:?

windshield brace with a roll bar

Hope this helps with what you are asking, these are two aluminium bars attached at the front to the windshield riser and then bolted to the roll bar.
Slight bend at the front to be level with the roll bar height. Works good for me

Thanks ghost! that is what I was trying to discribe to kilron...that should work perfect!! Looks great too ghost! ;) I'm also trying to build a bikkini top out of alum. that would attach like that. I dont like my new bikkini top! it bags in the middle  The alum top would always stay on even under the soft top. What'cha think? ;D

If your cage goes all the way to the front, weld some tabs onto your cage, and bolt on a piece of 1/4" aluminum to fit. Voila! You now have a rock top. It keeps out sun, most of the rain and the rocks when you roll over.

When SecondChance originally did his he ran two bars up in the center the width of a CB radio. (Or rather we agreed on how to do it and I did the fab work on it) At the back it was welded to the roll bar and in front it had a piece of angle that bolted into 2 bolt holes in the frame. That held up great until he put a full cage in and gave him a place to mount his CB as well. For a little less permanent it could be set up with bolts at both ends. (We were in a rush on his since it was built up in 1 month from the frame out to be ready for an event)

I just did my windshield supports too with a 4 point rollbar. Here are some pics.

Sounds interesting I would like to see it when you get it done I would like to have a removable hardtop as well that didn't have to bolt onto the quarters.
I think what you are trying to achieve is a permanent liner for your bikini, you know all bikinis bag in the middle when sitting and bow upwards when driving, you would have to incorporate a support for the bikini for this not to happen.

I've thought about doing this with smoke colored plexi-glass.

Im not able to post pics but I will send some if someone sends a email add. I went to a local circle track supply shop and had some custom aluminum pieces with heim joints made, after welding a tab on the 4 point roll bar one end bolts on to the tab and the other to the top of the windshield frame. I have kept the visors and wiper cover which was trimmed to clear the bikini top. I like the look of having the wiper motor covered. That is why I used a brace on each side instead of one in the center. Im thinking of selling the braces if anyone is interested.

That's an excellent idea are you going to do it? I would like to see how it comes out.

Not sure yet. If I do it will be after the weather gets nice out. I'll get pics in my Project thread if/when I do.
