Craziest thing you've ever seen when looking at a used Bronco?

I looked at another Bronco this weekend and saw some interesting things. Like for instance, the owner was driving this Bronco around with no C bushings at all! I can't imagine how this thing handled. He was also running a plastic jug under the hood for a fuel tank since his rear main tank had a huge hole in it. What the craziest thing you've ever seen when looking at a used Bronco?

Not the craziest but the strangest I came across. I test drove a Bronco about 20 years ago, was considering buying it, the Bronco was in great shape. I jumped in to take it for a spin, it had a floor shifter installed for the 3 speed tranny. No big deal, except they had the linkage hooked up to where the shift pattern was totally wrong. I had to ask the owner what the pattern was, it was almost completely reversed.
I thought it was ridiculous, now I am thinking that it was probably a great way to keep it from getting stolen. The owner was the only person on the planet who knew how to make it out of the driveway!

That's pretty funny and interesting Langester! When I was a kid in high school I bought a 1963 Falcon sedan delivery and dropped in a 289 I had rebuilt. Same story with the shift pattern! I don't know how or why!

Still hooked to the 3 on the tree.

Plumbers strapping (sheetmetal strip with holes used to support plumbing in buildings) patching the floor to hold the park brake cable from pulling through the rust again.

Went for test drive and stood on the gas, the seat wasn’t bolted to the floor and I ended up looking at the roof. I mentioned to seat bolts to owner and he said, “did I forget to mention that?” I did buy if for 3500 dollars, this was a decade ago.

For sale sign as floorboard replacement/patch.

50 black widow spiders, like they knew they were being sold and all came out at once, freaky.

I went to look at one 16 or 17 years ago that the owner said had about 1" of tub stretch. when I went to see it, the tub looked like it was entirely coated with poorly applied Bondo under flat white house paint that was applied with a brush in some places and a roller in others. IIRC he was asking $4,500 for it, which was about $3,500 more than it was worth, at the time.

Three FULL wiring harnesses, all partially in use and a separate Ryan's efi stand alone harness all in a single Bronco! Too many drywall screws and lag bolts used to hold things together than I can mention.

Shortly after buying mine in the early 90s I stopped to look at one for sale on the side of the road, I opened the passenger door and was just able to catch it before it hit the ground. I was just able to lift it up and get it mostly back in place and get the latch to catch when the seller came out of the house.

Spray foam kick panels! I bought two broncos back in 2008 a 68 and a 71. they were kind of for parts but I was going to build the 68 as a wheeler as neither had a title. The 71 had spray foam kick panels and rocker panels. The 68 had the center of the dash cut out. I mean from the window hinge down to the bottom edge like someone took a sawzall too it. They cut all the heater controls and the radio were in the piece they cut out. Could never figure out why? Sold both of them when the economy took a dump.

I also had a 77 parts rust bucket that had a fence hinge welded to the out side of the door as a hinge, but it was rusted an broken too. I too have found bullets in the heater vents and countless books of matches.

I've had my bronco so long I find junk in it I lost yrs ago.

Back in the day my friends and I would hide a same year coin somewhere on the ole motorcycle were had at the time...just kid stuff I guess. Around 1986 I was fooling around underneath the dash one day and had a 1976 penny in my pocket so I placed in under the dash.

Fast forward to 2011 n imma reworking the heater and controls and all ...low n behold there that penny lay...I had forgotten about it.

PO notched out the track bar so the pto driveshaft would clear. Welded a curved piece of 3/8" flatbar on the top.%)
