Well, and it's been quite a while again...
So I ended up not doing much with the 67, smartened up and figured by the time I prepped it winter would be over.
Recently though, I was thinking about parting with my 69 but decided to play around with it first. So after dragging it out first thing it needed was a good cleaning after sitting for so long.
It used to run, and I imagine it still will, but it's been a long time since I've done anything with it....I create my own barn finds😄

Then while playing around with an old set of tires and wheels I thought, why not just turn it into somewhat of a low budget build utilizing parts and pieces that I already have on hand. So going to keep the body as is for the most part and focus on the chassis and mechanicals.

And the tear down begins. First time I've come across a yellow jacket nest inside of a brake drum assembly, sure glad it wasn't active 😄 And check out that exhaust heat shield next to the fuel tank, don't think I've come across one of those before.

So this is where it's at currently. I'm going through my spare parts and kind of just planning as I go.

What were the brackets for on the front crossmember? A plow?

I hope you're keeping those sweet grille reflectors :).

Would only need the right side of the dial exhaust….it’s a six😄

Todd, not sure what those pieces were for, I think I remember it being like that when I got it.

But yeah, I would guess some kind of brackets or braces for a plow set up or custom front bumper, or possibly both, given that the very ends of the frame rails were cut off as well.

My 69 has that same heat shield by the gas tank. Didn't realize what it was until you mentioned it.

Well, I caught myself and stopped before tearing too much down and really turning this thing into a long term project...not something I want to do with it. Back on track just having fun and playing around seeing how far we can go with it utilizing only whatever spare parts are already on hand. Might still try and make it run and move again, but for now the look is more important.😁
I managed to put most of the rear axle together and found enough components for a small lift to achieve a much better stance.

I didn't notice until now how wavy that passenger door is! You have a lot more self control than I would - I'd get buried in fixing everything.
