Pulled the cover off the front differential. I was mildly surprised that it was only slightly milky. Kudos to the PO.

When I went to pull the cover off the rear, I got another surprise. A Ford 9" doesn't have a removable cover. Got homework today to decide on how to change out the oil.

Well, I'm into the rewire harness with both feet! Cleaned and painted the dash while it was out. Now putting everything back in will be FUN!!!! This harness is for a later model bronco. Earlier ones have the brake switch under the under moded the wire to go there instead of on the column. Headlight switch is on the wrong side of the column so today, first off, I must cut and extend all 7 wires to make it to the driver's side of the column. Those 1 3/8" holes I was told to cut on each side of the fire wall didn't make it either. I ended up cutting a knochs (looks like a key way) and bending the metal outta the way to get the wire into the engine bay, then pushing the knock back into place to have it back to the orginal circle. The fuse panel will be another challenge. All that wire doesn't bend very well. Of course I found a lot of cracked/bronken metal in and around the dash so it's all bet repaired. All I can say is that it's a good thing I'm a retired electrican who can weld and has a vehicle lift in my 2400 sq ft garage.%)%) I need to get this thing done, there's two other vehicles that their owners want me to work on. I read an article that people who retire early (60) are far great chance of getting OLDTIMERS disease. I don't have to for that though!!!!;D

Two thoughts come to mind:
1. One Upper
2. Show Off

My house is no where near that big! So jealous here in central SC!

Picked up an AX15 today to begin the 5 spd conversion saga. Hope to get it done in time for the Bakers meet and greet.

Did some cleaning, installed axle breather bellows, and fab'd a flywheel access cover so I don't fling dirt and rocks into my bellhousing. And my new to me Sport emblems came in today, going to paint them satin black to match the theme on the truck and redo the red sport section.

Replaced the pan hard bar bushings.... That was fun... Yah not! Is it just me or can that top bolt REALLY be a p.i.t.a! Several whacks with the bfh, a few choice words that I'm pretty sure my daughter not only heard but may have repeated.... But the broncos back to great shape and ready for the road again tomorrow:)

got my radio installed last night, still need to do the speakers but have it hooked up to the crappy ones that were already in the doors for now. Drove it to work today, hoping the rain holds off

Got the old exhaust out and the e brake dismantled. That was the last two things I needed to get out of the way before I get ready to take the body off. Now need to go find some metal to make braces out of.

Installed my 14bolt disc brake kit. I had to grind on the left side Mehico-built caliper to get it to fit right on caliper bracket. Casting had uneven edges causing caliper to bind and create excessive drag. Tomorrow will be test day and order driveline e-brake kit from TSMMfg. Cheers!

Not "on" the Bronco, but scanned some more images from my third trip over the Rubicon.

Lunch break mid-way down the mountain.
Three matching low-mileage (hey, they were only 4 years old!) '72's. Two of them Explorer Sports.

IMG_0012.jpg

Passing Buck Island on the way out.

IMG_0015.jpg

Lining up for the old squeeze rock near the bottom of the Big Sluice.
If it doesn't look familiar, it hasn't been there since the mid-eighties I don't think.

IMG_0018.jpg

Big deal on 32" tires!

IMG_0019.jpg

Almost out. On the "road" out to Tahoe.
Not feeling particularly "green" back then. But at least with only 30k miles or so on the rig, it hadn't had much time to collect oil on the chassis yet.

Probably not the most appropriate thread for old photos, but it's the closest I came to actually working on a Bronco this weekend!

Awesome Pics Paul....

I fired mine up, relocated couple of the grab handles "strategically" in case of a roll over

Thanks. I can literally see, feel, hear and smell the trip like it was yesterday.
Good views, good buds, good rigs, good times. So good I took over 200 color slides that weekend!
Guess I should be scanning the originals rather than the prints, but it gives them that appropriately old look I think.
