    Clean Oil Change

I got tired of getting oil all over the garage floor when changing the oil on my 76. You know the problem: you unscrew the filter, and oil pours down on the tie rod, drag link, and various other stuff. It then runs out in every direction and misses the oil pan. Now most of you guys are not...

    Help with a C4 leak

If the internal seal leaked, but the external seals were good, would it still leak at the shift rod?

    Help with a C4 leak

I have a leak at the gear selector mechanism/ neutral safety switch. How hard is it to replace the seal or gasket? It looks like I can get to it by dropping the front drive shaft, but I don't know what is involved in taking it apart and resealing it. My truck is a 1976.

    Stiff Brake Pedal??

I will be following this thread as I have always had this problem. I have a 76 with un-boosted front disk brakes. It is hard to believe that Ford actually put disk brakes on these trucks and made the power booster optional. I have had my truck for eight years and my right leg is twice the...

    Fuel Hose Recomendations?

I was refering to the hose from my rear tank to the tank selector valve, But I think I am going to replace all the fuel hose with hydraulic hose. It is expensive, but not as expensive as burning up my truck!

    Fuel Hose Recomendations?

I just checked the Aeroquip hose. It is rated for gasoline. I think I will give it a try. Thanks for the help.

    Leaky transmission pan

I have a B&M transmission pan on my C4. I have replaced the cork gasket twice and it still leaks. I have been careful to not over-torque the bolts. Is it advisable to use Peratex on the gasket? If so, what color?

    Fuel Hose Recomendations?

I have yet to find fuel hose that lasts longer than a few years. Most of what I have came from either Napa or Kragens. A friend said the best hose to use is actually hydraulic hose. It is very expensive, but I will spring for it if it really is better, and if it is compatable with gas...

Anyone regret going to twin sticks on J shifter?

With the stock J-shifter I always had to struggle to get it out of 4 low. The twin-stick shifter I bought from Tom's Bronco Parts solved all my problems. Besides that it looks cool!

    Where has my VIN gone?

Unless it was sanded to bare metal when it was repainted, you should be able sand it down to the original color. My 76 has been repainted twice, and I have been doing some minor body work on it. In the process it has become obvious that it was originally orange. Since you are going to paint...

    Another fuel vent hose question

Anyone know of a source for a preformed 5/8" hose that will work on the aux. tank? On my 76 the vent hose coming out of the tank has to make a very tight turn to hook up to the vent tube on the filler. It is so tight it gets kinked and therefore doesn't vent. Any ideas?

    PS fluid level?

I just got my power steering box back from West Texas Offroad. They did a great job of rebuilding it for a very reasonable price. I have it all back together with the air bled out and it seems to be working well. What I need to know is how to check the fluid level. I have a Saginaw pump and...

    Is mine longer than yours?

I am wondering if the dip stick in my c4 is too long. My truck is a 76. It is my understanding that the C4 should hold 11 1/2 quarts. I have been told that the torque converter holds about 5 1/2 qts. That leaves 5 1/2 qts. for the stock pan. I have a B&M pan that is supposed to hold 2...

Concept Bronco on the back burner

The article said it would be based on the Escape platform, but they could be wrong. Ford might wake up when Toyauto brings out the FJ Cruiser. It will be based on a shortened 4runner chassis with a solid rear axel, a transfer case, and maybe even a locker. I predict they will sell like hotcakes.

Concept Bronco on the back burner

I just got the latest issue of Truck Trends. The editor talked to ford about the Concept Bronco, and they said it was being put on the back burner for now. It seems that it would cost too much to reinforce the Escape platform, and Ford is in no position to create a new platform for just one...

    Heater Question

It is that time of year again. When I rebuilt my 302 I also rebuilt the heater. I put in a new core, new heat control valve, and all new seals. I also disconnected the fresh air intake. Now all I get is cold air out of the heater. With the engine temperature at 190* I stuck a thermocouple...
