Help me locate my engine leak!

Ok I am about ready to trash the entire engine! I pulled the old filter and replaced it with a new one. While the filter was out I tried to remove the oil pressure extension. However, it was stuck on the block side. I don't think the leak is from the extension. Which only leaves the fuel...

Sounds good. I will replace the oil filter and re-seal the oil pressure extension tonight or tomorrow. I will keep everyone informed of the results. Thanks

    power steering box rebuild

I had my box rebuilt by WTO, in addition to a 3.25 turn conversion. They performed good quality work. However, I would probably opt for a 4 turn box rather than a 3.25 turn, if I were to do it again. Best of luck

Help me locate my engine leak!

Sounds good. Thanks 72 Sport. After closer inspection, I found a lot of oil on the lower portion of the oil filter, "filter" side of the fuel pump, and possibly the oil pressure extension. Oil was also sprayed all over the drivers side motor mount, front differential, and track bar. What...

Help me locate my engine leak!

That is somewhat good news. A bad fuel pump will be quite a nuisance, especially, since I replaced the seals not two weeks ago. I kept the same oil filter during my multiple attempts at sealing my oil pan gasket. I may have damaged it somehow during the process. I never removed an oil filter...

Help me locate my engine leak!

Thanks guys, I replaced my valve cover gaskets a year ago. I don't remember seeing a weep hole in my fuel pump when I replaced the gasket. Where exactly is it located? I will double check my oil pressure extension. It seemed tight when I replaced the sending unit, but I will make sure. No...

Help me locate my engine leak!

I recently replaced my: 1. Fuel pump gasket 2. Oil pressure sending unit gasket 3. Oil pan gasket However, I still have a leak located around my fuel pump and oil filter. I cannot find it for the life of me. All the gaskets I replaced are sealed. I have oil on my fuel filter and dripping...

Removing fan from Explorer sepentine setup.

I just did mine which was a major pain. I initially rented the kit at AutoZone. However, the kit does not come with a 36mm wrench. Then, I purchased the correct kit from Kragen, but the attachment that goes over the 4 bolts on the pulley was too small. I re-rented the AutoZone kit and used...

The difference in price comes from no Sales Tax in Oregon.

Which first: Explorer 5.0 or NV3550?

I just finished conversing with both WH and Toms regarding their respective NV3550 conversions with J-shift twin sticks. I am simply stating the facts of what I was told. I will leave it to anyone who is reading this to make their own conclusions. WH: 1. New NV3550 with 90-day warranty 2...

Thanks Ben. I will call the vendors today and post my findings.

Which first: Explorer 5.0 or NV3550?

I read one of the two TC shifters had to be either shortened or bent to not interfere with the tranny shifter in 1st gear? Is this true? Does your advice only pertain to WH or other vendors as well? I am trying to research this as much as possible to reduce possible problems during an...

Which first: Explorer 5.0 or NV3550?

I was absolutely set on the tranny until I discovered two details while researching this upgrade: 1. Mantrans (ebay) now requires a core charge, thereby negating the substantial savings. 2. I have a J-shift TC which will not be a direct bolt up for the twin sticks. Even WH's version requires...

Which first: Explorer 5.0 or NV3550?

Thanks Tito. I am still contemplating where to buy the tranny from. I read the thread regarding Mantrans, which seemed to be quiet positive. However, I am somewhat wary about the 30 day warranty, considering what happened to 73Stallion's trans. It is a difficult decision to make. Sourcing...

Which first: Explorer 5.0 or NV3550?

Thanks for the compliment Skiddy. She is a wonderful woman....but for some funny reason in love with me ;) I will get the NV3550, but the question is where from. WH says their trans are new as well. I figure shipping will be cheaper than from Toms. However, Oregon has no state tax. I...

Which first: Explorer 5.0 or NV3550?

Thanks for the info Donsbolt. Currently, I am running stock suspension, 30x9.50 tires, 4.10s. I love the acceleration from stop, however I am running high rpms on the freeway. I don't have a tach but it sounds pretty loud. Later, I will have 31x10.50, 2.5" lift, 1" body, uncut, w/ 4.10s...

Which first: Explorer 5.0 or NV3550?

Lol! Very true. I will go with the tranny. Now the question is where to buy it from? do I go with mantrans on ebay with a 30 day warranty or with one of the vendors?
