My trick for flushing can be messy but it works. put new longer return hose into a bucket and have someone turn the wheel slightly while you keep adding atf. I run about 3 quarts through then shut off truck. reattach your return hose and fill and start. if it still whines try some friction...

You know everyone has a comment and go with what you like and can build to your budget. I have the stock motor in my 73 and it runs like a top. I would love to stoke it but just in due time. Summit is a great place and so is you local parts house.. Good luck and have fun with it..
