C Bushing install problems, help needed

Installation complete and I'm happy with the results. Measuring from side marker lights and front bumper driver side is a little less than 1/2 inch lower than passenger in front and 1/4 inch in rear. Close enough for me. Thanks for help from all.

    Toploader 4 Speed Hurst Shifter

I already had the shift linkage setup on my 74 but installed a hurst shift lever for a 66 Mustang as it has the offset coming out of the shifter so it sits to the right away from your knee

C Bushing install problems, help needed

Well grinding radius arms and caps down to original metal seemed to work along with a different method of tightening arms to get parallel. With the axle housing on jack stands and making sure it was level, I tightened passenger side cap down about a qtr of the way then used a jack stand to hold...

C Bushing install problems, help needed

I just can't get radius arms to be parallel on the floor after trying several tightening combinations. Passenger is always off the floor while driver side is on the floor. My radius arms and caps were very rusty and a lot of scale build up, chiseled away what i could. Could that be the problem...

C Bushing install problems, help needed

Well C bushings installed and they tightened up no problem, greased'em up. Passenger side radius arm is 1/4 to 3/8 inch off the floor with the driver side arm touching the floor. I've tried everything multiple times cris-crossing etc and can't get them to line up perfectly. Is that close enough...

C Bushing install problems, help needed

I'm following Tom's Bronco installation instructions which says do one side at a time and doesn't require removing trac arm or brake hose. Wild Horse instructions say to completely disassemble front diff from the bronco and place radius arms parallel on the floor. Has anybody followed Tom's...

C Bushing install problems, help needed

Axle is still under bronco. I have the radius arm bushings installed and nut on loose. Just trying to get front cap on and tightened. All four of the C bushings look to be interchangeable as they are marked front bottom and rear bottom on each one.

C Bushing install problems, help needed

I have a 1974 bronco that had stock springs and C bushings that were shot. I bought 2.5 inch lift coil springs and 7 degree bushing kit from Tom's. I have spring and bushings removed from passenger side only and trying to install new C bushings and barely getting two bolts to start and don't...

    1974 Windshield frame squeak

I just installed a bikini top and thinking of folding windshield forward and placing a thin weatherstrip piece down and standing windshield back up to see if that helps.

    1974 Windshield frame squeak

My windshield frame squeaks on the passenger side when driving over 20 mph and you can see it shaking a little with the top off, very annoying. If i pull back on the top of the frame it stops and but no way to secure it that I can see. Anybody else have the issue and whats the fix?

    74 Bronco Flywheel swap question?

Good point 904Bronco, I think I'll just buy a new one and stay with 11 inch clutch. Checked cougar flywheel and it's only drilled for 10 inch clutch/PP. Thanks

    74 Bronco Flywheel swap question?

The flywheel behind the old 302 has several teeth chipped and partially broken off. I have a 164 tooth flywheel out of a 68 cougar, any reason I can't use it. 68 cougar had a 10.5 inch clutch and the new bronco clutch is 11 inch. The flywheel is the same diameter as the old one so thinking it...

Oil Pump pickup Tube Main Cap bolt question

I'm removing oil pickup tube off my old tired 302 and installing on a rebuilt 289. I need to swap one of the main cap bolts from the 302 to my 289 to hold the pickup tube. Can i just remove the one bolt and re-torque or do i need to remove both main cap bolts and re-torque both.

Will 289 fit in 74 Bronco w/o clearance issues?

Thanks for the bellhousing and timing cover suggestion, hadn't thought of that. I will do a closer inspection. I have a couple 5 bolt bellhousings I will check them to see if they might work as well if needed. Only reason I'm even considering the 289 is it's already rebuilt plus alum heads...

Will 289 fit in 74 Bronco w/o clearance issues?

I still have the original 302 in it but it's tired. 302 has the correct pan with side mount dipstick tube. So if I use 302 pickup tube and pan on the 289 should be good to go?
