I didn't just "bugger off"... I have been reading this thread a lot and trying to figure out what I have. This is all pretty new to me so when y'all give me a tip I try my best to use the information, not just brush it off. Believe me I gave learned a lot, for a newbie like me any information is a learning experience. Of the 335 series motors there is 351c, 351m & 400. From what I've gathered mine is a 351c. Now if there are different types of 351c's, well then I wasn't aware of that.

Your going to make me tell little secrets.
yes 96=/- sets of these were made part # SK 42624 heads were the factory cast aluminum Cleveland heads made in 1968. ... 68.5 they were designated "Cobra Jet" There were made but were not put in any production vehicle. If you have a set of them they would of originated from the drag racing big boys of the day. Also to add, there were aluminum Cleveland blocks made. part # sk42617 Also less than 100 produced by ford. I have never seen any of these pieces personally but here are some pictures.

Thats a cast iron block. Could be far less than 100 made. From what I have read there were several castings before the final design for the aluminum block was cast. It bears the sk brand and the solid freeze plugs but it is missing the added bosses on the edge of the deck for the added head bolts. Very cool Franko, And of coarse you know this guy correct. He has 3 of them and a balloon yada yada. Your amazing.

No not nascar at all The blocks and heads were to be used in Can Am and Indy cars, as a 320 inch motor. I have read that some of the blocks were cast with the smaller windsor main journals. These were for the 320 cid engines. Dyno Don used them in drag racing where they were a much bigger 400 cid. I think some of the NASCAR guys got them too. After Ford quit the development of the cleveland for racing most of those trick parts went to Holeman & Moody including all the remaining alum. 351C blocks and heads. And then Holman & Moody sold them to the public or any Ford dealerships that wanted the stuff. So thats how the parts leaked into the publics hands. its funny that ford spent all this money on an engine, made all the trick parts and the aftermarket did not even try to pick these pieces up and reproduce them. All the work was done all they had to do was copy it.

I have a 400 that has 351c /w engine mounts? how did that happen?

Ok, sort of on topic, you have one of the odd ball 400s with the small block tranny pattern. I suspect they are rare too....

Yes I do. The blocks have dual mount options and the small bell. I found a few of these because I wanted to run a automatic overdrive trans. Only problem is the 400 does not get along with the aod's. so the c6 is doing fine with the 400.

I wanted to put a AOD behind my 351C and was told by a few shops it wouldn't hold up. I don't understand why they would say that any ideas
